Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
The “will they, won’t they” soap opera with Harden is going to be unbearable. I was so hyped that he was gonna leave & now he’s gonna come back on the most miserable terms possible.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
He should be good to return if the organization shows how much they value him, and more importantly how little his desired teams like the Clippers value him, based on their piss-poor trade offers.
Overall having Harden back one more year is potentially the least-bad outcome. Take one more shot with a better coach, then reassess everything next summer with a ton of cap room.

If he's returning let's just build the rest of the team already.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
If nothing else, if the Sixers run it back with the same starting lineup, if they don't get any farther in the playoffs, the narrative from a segment of the fan base that Doc Rivers was to blame for all their problems will be dead.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
If they can convince Harden to get on board and play hard, this is one of the better outcomes for the Sixers. A month ago, if everyone was told Harden would opt in for one year and walk, everyone would have taken it. The problem is, Harden being a good soldier is far from a given and it feels like the entire season will be tenuous if things go awry, Harden even if he starts the season ready to go, could flip bad at any moment.
But if he sucks it up, it’s one of the better scenarios for the Sixers. Aside from somehow acquiring a star level player without giving up Maxey.
The biggest issue though is while waiting on Harden they allowed the bench to get pillaged in the process and as of right now don’t have an NBA bench.

I think the bench thing is being a bit overblown. Melton, Tucker or Reed, and Bamba is league average or better. We need another top-9 rotation player for sure though.

Need 1 or two forwards who can get you 14-20 ppg.

Expect a reporter to come out within the next day and report a conflicting thing. That Harden is still unhappy and is set on being traded.
Once Harden's camp gets wind of this latest report they're going to try and put that out to reset any leverage.

Ok...If Harden is coming back, then Will Barton should be an obvious addition to solidify the bench.

One year deal is perfect. I expect a complete playoff collapse from him next year, but a new coach gives me a little more confidence.

They do run a lot of 3 guard lineups. Harden, Maxey, and Melton all play big minutes, so Melton and Tobias will take up a lot of forward minutes.
Ignoring what is likely to happen, I think Tobias starting at the four and bringing PJ off the bench is our best option, but we have a few natural fours and no natural threes, so Tobias is prob our three again.
Harden
Maxey
Tobias
Tucker
Embiid
Melton
Reed
Beverly
Bamba
House
Springer
Harrell
Furkan
Most of our loss is Niang and McDaniels. In addition, we want to actually be improved from last year as opposed to breaking even. Trying to surround Joe with shooters, we are lacking a Niang replacement. And we really need a natural three who can score and defend.
So could our bench be considered league average? I don’t know, but it seems worse than last year’s bench which we hoped to upgrade.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
Oubre averages 6.5 3PA/36 min with STL% and BLK% of 1.8 and 1.6, respectively. Best of the bunch left, I say sign him.
Anthony Lamb could be another target here. I think we really missed out on Torrey Craig though.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
Oubre and TJ Warren would be decent enough additions. Sixers probably not willing to go more than one year for either though.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
Oubre is likely the best option available if he comes for vet min. Maybe promise him a starting spot or at least a chance to start and he'll come?
