Edit: wrong thread.

On topic: massive game for Kentucky given the opportunity with how the bracket has fallen.

SGA shooting terribly tonight. Luckily he has 11/12 FT in the first half. Really need Vanderbilt in this one because K-State is size deficient. A weird game so far.

What's your outlook on Ayton? I feel he will disappoint going up against NBA caliber sized bigs. If not, he'll be one of those guys with good raw stats but little impact like D12

I feel like he has all the tools to be great. Has the size and body. Checks all the boxes.

But you have to wonder if he truly likes basketball ala Wiggins.

Its tough to tell tho since a lot of these guys simply don't even want to be in college.....ala Ben.

Are we talking about D-12 now or D-12 historically? Now sure, historically nah he has been a major impact player in his prime days.

Won't lie, I'm rooting for Kentucky, too many potential NBAers on that team and just getting that name deeper in the tournament.

Maybe in between peak D12 and current D12. If you look at the numbers peak D12 is just flirting at 1 OBPM, his impact is more on the defensive end. He's just a 4-5BPM guy at his peak. I'm talking about that time when guys at GB felt D12 and LeBron are at the same level.

But then Ayton strength is more on the offensive end than defensive end from my very little scouting of him.

Overall, C position isnt valued much that I feel you only need to overpay if its a generational talent like Biid, KAT or AD. I'd rather take my chances on a guard or a wing that if I fall into the middle of my prediction, it's likely to be better than the average outcome of that C.

Dont know. I feel like we are prone to falling into trap by narrow focusing on strengths that may be irrelevant in NBA. Some of those tools arent valued highly.

Welp, that sucked. Could have actually won it all this year with Loyola next. Kansas St was better coached; we had better talent. SGA finally had a stinker. We really should have won that game, but congrats to KSU; they persevered which is what march is all about. Damn.

I think Doncic can be very good. How good? Maybe somewhere is the big disparity between Bogdan Bogdanovic and Harden.

At this day and age, you only need to put a high value on a player's playmaking and shooting upside (solid 3pt% base rate while very good FT%). Both are high for Doncic IMO.

Low deflections and lacking freakish athleticism? Who cares.

Also we desperately needed Jarred Vanderbilt. He would have eaten KSU alive on the boards. That and PJ Washington could make a god damn free throw. Honestly, if he made his season average (62%) we would have crushed. A difference in 5 points.

Well that sucks.

Ayton is a beast, yes he has holes in his game but he's locked in top 3. I think people are perhaps overanalysing him. He's the most extraordinary physical specimen to come into the league since David Robinson.

Just on a sidenote my favourite Admiral story is then Spurs coach Bob Hill seeing Robinson doing handstands in the gym pre-practice and said he'd give the team the night off training if Robinson could walk on his hands the full distance of the court. Of course the Spurs got the night off training.

yeah in todays game you can hide or scheme for mediocre defenders on the perimeter....not so much in the paint. Now the "elite" skill is shot creation abilities. All of the top 15 guys have it in some form....even the bigs. However, after that is a big man that can switch and space the floor....Ayton has the "tools" to do that. Its often tough to tell as the college game doesn't feature that...(he also played out of position at the 4 a lot it seems, no?)

I am astonished at how well FSU is playing. Taking down National Champion runner ups right now.

Bad luck, that one will be a tough pill to swallow. On paper UK pretty easily the better team.

From my perspective it sucks big time all of these big names have now finished their college careers and we wont get to see them play at this level anymore.

Here's a hot take: I'd still consider taking Knox. He was pretty elite at getting himself open toward the end of the year and was putting up good numbers. Moves very well for a 6'9 dude. If he can catch up, defensively, then he would work exceptionally well on our team at a SF/PF with Simmons. Has a real nice stroke. Scores in multiple ways and utilizes the pumpfake well. Part of our "switch everything" defense which will be handy on our team.

As long as Kansas or Duke don't win it, I'm alright with whatever happens. Would love to see a random team like Texas Tech finally bring one home. I think Clemson can give Kansas a bit of trouble but Syracuse is gonna have to shoot the lights out to beat Duke. Duke outsizes them so much.

You know, we don't have to pick a Wildcat.

We need a shot creator, something Knox isn't really all that good at. He kinda reminds me of Tatum a lil, except I don't think he has the handles of even Tatum. SGA wasn't good in that game, but for the Sixers I would rather have him over Knox. I don't want a guy who is so dependent on screens for this team right now, we have plenty of those now and still have noone we can put at the top of the key and make a game winning shot with the clock rolling down.

Just wish SGA was more explosive.
