I could deal with Kemba but Dragic is meh. Simmons is the logical choice but Silver is picking so I'm not holding my breath.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

There's a huge demographic of people that feels the need to reward a 4th seed team with an all-star representative. Even if there is no all-star calibur player on the roster and said team gets by on coaching and defense.

That said, at least Dragic can score a little bit.

Al Horford literally made the all-star team because his team wins a lot, he sets good screens and he communicates well on defense. It doesn't get any least deserving than that.

I will never understand how Simmons went from 67% FT% on 300 attempts in college to 56% in the NBA. Not to mention he had an entire year to practice. Whoever was working with him on his shot should be fired. Maybe this explains what happened to Fultz.

He just needs more reps and to improve his confidence, he will be at 80% FT% next season with ease, he is that good.

I think that there was a conscience effort to focus him on driving, handling, and defending at the expense of shooting. That bled over into his free throws as well is my guess.

In the off-season I expect his shooting should be the primary focus.

Goran named to ASG. Ben would have been a deserving selection.

He would have been yeah. But for one with how competitive Ben is i doubt we would want to be the 2nd Injury Replacement - Guy... it's kinda meh if you think about it. The Fans did not vote you in, the Players and Coaches didn't and even at the first Injury Replacement they dont choose you... and secondly the snub seems to really have motivated him. He is averaging 20.4 PPG 6.8 RPG and 8 APG with over 60% FG% since the announcement of the All Star Teams..

Compared to Goran, Ben has more rebounds, steals, assists and blocks. It is not really comparable in any of those categories. Scoring is very close with Ben having a far higher FG%. Ben has a far higher PER and is a superior defensive player.

Read on Twitter

ASG as rookie:
Magic, yes
Oscar, yes
Ben, no

So, why KP is in?

Imho the coaches don't want a rookie in the ASG. It's an unwritten rule nowadays

dragic getting in before him is BS. Kemba I could live with. dragic brings nothing to the this game.

I keep reading about the heat being the 4 seed. what sort of draw have they had compared to 76ers?

Ben would have needed 25ppg to make it as a rookie.

Like it or not it is an unwritten rule and it's not just rookies. A lot of players have been "stiffed" in their first year that they should have made it. Steph Curry is the first that comes to mind... he definitely deserved to be an all-star in the year he missed selection.

It's almost like you have to earn your stripes and prove it's not just a fluke year before you will finally get rewarded. I thought Ben was only ever an outside chance of making it... he is really not an all-star yet.

Nobody is tuning in to watch Andre Drummond grab a rebound or Goran Dragic play in the All-Star game. Ben is perfect for that style of play. The crowd would be oohing and ahhing. Oh, well. He'll be there soon enough.

KP is a fan favorite, on a mega market and is the best player on his team. We are an 8th seed and Embiid will represent our team....team needed to be better in order to get multiple allstars.

its not really that hard to see how the coaches vote for this.
