Morey trying to get Paul George drunk for him to sign for a paycut and just a 3 year deal.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 3
Would obviously the best outcome possible if George simply walks into cap space. Still think we would not have enough depth to have real shot at the chip next year, the Batum news sucks. Wonder whether the Dummond signing is an indication that Reed will be played as an energy weakside protector next to Embiid.
Maxey, Oubre, George, Reed and Embiid.
Or we're going to combine Reed and McCain salaries for a legitimate forward rotation player?

Don't think Oubre's a good enough shooter for this lineup to succeed. Would be hella interesting to see how it works though.
Probably more likely they go small (kinda) with another wing shooter IMO.

Apparently George has a podcast that comes out every Monday. Since tomorrow is Monday I would expect the announcement then.

We're probably using the MLE on Oubre and signing Drummond into Cap. Which leaves us with around 10 million.
After signing all the FA we can and giving Maxey the max we can trade Reed for a guy worth 15 million max and operate over the cap, as i understand it.
So we can get 2 or 3 more guys and then vet minimums

I'm enjoying all of the copium from opposing fans lol. We haven't even signed dude yet and they're coming up with reasons why it won't work.

The gen board was sold on him going to warriors or Orlando and even now they are discussing sign and trade possibilities. It's crazy they will do everything but admit he's coming here. It's weird.

We're probably hard-capped at the 1st apron by signing Oubre into the room MLE. We definitely would be if we take back more than 100% of salary in a trade. Given that, I'm going to update something I posted previously (hope it's all correct):
Embiid + Maxey + PG + Oubre + Drummond + 10 minimums = about $169.5M
The first apron is about $178M. You can spend about $8.5M above minimum contracts ($2M) for the other players. That could be, for example, one $10.5M player in a trade for Reed & McCain.
If you keep McCain, it takes up $2M of the $8.5M. You can create a little bit more space (not quite $1M each) with rookie 2nd-rounders like Bona in place of vet minimums (does not work for undrafted guys). If you really need an extra $2M, you could drop to 14 contracts.

Maxey, Oubre, George, Reed and Embiid.

The Sixers could either waive Paul Reed, in which case they'd have ~$7.7 million in additional cap space to work with, or they could trade Reed's contract, allowing them to take back up to ~$15m in salary.
Dorian Finney Smith?
Isaiah Stewart?
Rachaun Holmes?
Max Strus?
Avdija?
Zach Collins?
Olynyk?
