Maybe, but to have amazing results, Simmons will have to become at least a decent shooter from range.

That's what I'm worried about.

I'm not worried at all. I agree he has to improve his jumper. No doubt about it! But so does almost every other prospect who enters the NBA. And we aren't going to ask BS to come off screens and hit threes on the move. He needs to hit a pull up 3 and an open 3 when the ball is swung to him. That's it! As far as developing skills those are two of the simpler ones to develop. He has most of the harder stuff down. And with his ability to put the ball on the floor, penetrate and either finish or find an open man Ds won't be able to give him much space from the start. BS is going to be fine from the start.

Agreed. To reach his ceiling he will need to be able to hit open jump shots from deep. He doesn't have to be a force from the perimeter though. He just needs to be able to keep the defense honest. Kidd became a good 3 point shooter, but was never a threat otherwise from the perimeter.

Only way I do an extension this offseason is if it is for less than max. Otherwise I wait to see if he can stay healthy.

We can't allow Embiid to become an UFA in 2019. We must lock him up to a long term extension.

That would never happen. Embiid would never play under the QO. He isn't stupid. Worst case scenario we match a max offer sheet next off season.

Agreed.

I think he is the franchise, but there is no reason to sign him early unless it is for less than the max. If they are planning on signing him to a Max extension then they ought to wait until the last possible moment to do it. Hinkie surely would have waited.

If he gets through this season with no stress fractures then you just offer him a Max contract happily.

I think working on an extension is an awful idea. If Embiid gets hurt and needs another surgery, he's cooked. And you'd have an albatross max contract on the books for a half decade that DECIMATES our championship hopes.
