A VERY encouraging win.

We just beat a top 5 team in the league that had their star healthy (Sheed), and played well, while we were missing our scorer (Willie Green) for the whole game and our floor general (Miller) for the 4th quarter in a VERY close game.

What's not to love about this team???

I'M SWIMMING IN KOOL-AID!!!!!

no...... I'M HIGH ON KOOL-AID!!!!!!!

Didn't watch or keep up with the game and truly had to look closer at my monitor. Thinking I had seen wrong. :) Well done Sixers!!!

"Playoffs?"

"Don't talk to me about playoffs...playoffs?

My post was directed to those regulars (you know who you are) who like to find ways to denigrate good wins by this team (the win in Phoenix was the poster-child for this, but there have been others as well). Just the fact that we are talking about this team being in the playoffs this season is something to be excited about...winning games like this (and - like the Celtics on Monday night - I am sure that the Pistons would have liked to send a pre-playoff message to the Sixers) is well beyond what I would have expected from this young team...this season.

I'm sure that they will lose their share of games over the next few weeks...and I expect their playoff stay to be brief...but the future is bright for this team, and that is something to celebrate.

Another glass of Kool-Aid for anybody?

I'm not quite sure who you're quoting, but I'm pretty sure those regulars you were directing your post to have good reason to denigrate those wins. Mainly the one where those same wins (types and against those same teams), like you're admitting right now, most likely won't be coming in the playoffs.

good tough game by the sixers
Carney was very good , the best he did all game was the help he gave Lou defending Billups on the final play , thats probebly save the game for us.

Dalemert had a good rebounding game in the second half and try ti protect the rim as much as he could because detroit has long and atlethic big man , but sometimes he makes you think like he so stupid with his mistakes, i cant think of another players in the league who will make those mistakes.

while i liked the defense effort in the last few minutes i realy didnt like what they did on offense , every time Iggy or Lou took the ball and play one on one basket ball and miss , Carney bailed them out a couple of times,
but what was Mo doing, how about calling a set play?

Yeah...those wins won't likely come THIS YEAR...but I think that it's pretty cool that this team (with all of its youth and potential) - a team picked by many at the start of the season to finish at the bottom of the conference - is actually winning meaningful games this late in the season, and is probably going to be in the playoffs.

Don't you think it's great?

Aren't you excited about the future of this team - its development well ahead of schedule...with the best base of young talent that they have had in years...perhaps only one major move this summer from being a relevant team again?

You ARE excited about that...yes?

Thaddeus Young made a handful of moves tonight where I had to hit rewind and watch 3-4 times. big time moves. His handle has come so far since the beginning of the year it's not even funny. This is NOT him just playing within himself. He's now making moves that are set up by his dribble, and he's doing so confidently. Moves he couldn't make at the beginning of the year. He's progressing so fast I honestly cannot accurately gauge his potential at this time.

Hmmm...so is it wrong to think that he has superstar potential if he continues to develop at this phenomenal rate for the next 2-3 years?

Can you describe some of the things that he did today? I didn't get to see the game, all I saw was that he shot efficiently as usual. What do you think about MO still giving him limited minutes? You think he's protecting him so Thad can continue to feed off the confident building performances each game, instead allowing him more minutes and possibly making a few errors which may result in him taking a step back?

Absolutely. I wasn't happy about the playoffs before because I felt (still do) we needed more talent from the draft, but now that we're basically a lock to make it, it is great.

Again, absolutely. And since Thad finally started getting playing time and showing a lot of his potential, I haven't gone away from that stance once.

The only thing I had a problem with was the post I initially responded to. Those of us who choose to critique the team despite it's great showings don't do it because we like to "badmouth" the team/win, but for the fact that we like to remain a bit realistic instead of overly optimistic about the chances of the team THIS SEASON. Speaking for myself, I've been in the overly optimistic crowd for years, whether it be from a team standpoint or towards an individual player, and almost every time it's led to disappointment. So for that reason, I'll choose to remain on the more realistic side...at least for the time being.

Yeah, that spin move he made was sweet. The kids game is really smooth and he has big time upside. His court awareness and poise for his age is amazing.

Knux, you are a unique talent and a credit to this board. Keep cranking out the material- and your analysis at the same time was spot on.

Eyeatoma, players like Iguodala can be in the league 4 years, be very successful and still are working on a signature move (his step back jumper.) Thad already has his signature, unstoppable move.

Young drives with one dribble and a huge stride, leans one way into his defender, then spins away to free up his left hand for a smooth runner with great touch. Its unstoppable, unblockable, uncoachable and his ticket to being a big time scorer over the next 15 years.

Thad did a variation of the move three times (twice on drives and once in the post) against great defenders like Sheed, and looked effortless. The man is a gazelle with a velvet touch around the cup.

BTW, he also had a nice drive and dish after drawing a double team. He had some defensive stuggles isolated against Prince- but that's all part of the learning curve... again his spin move can be taught... and won't be topped.

Spin move. up and under. He even took his man off the dribble with his right hand.

Can the kool-aid man be our new mascot?

BTW, Lou and Dala both played through horrible outside shooting nights. To each of their credit they kept their composure, and their driving ability created opportunities for their teammates.

How great is it to have our main offensive shooters be off and still be able to manufacture enough points to beat the Pistons? Evans and Sam on the O Boards were beyond huge.

I still cant believe we won this game. To beat the Suns we played thier style and tonight we played the Pistons sytle to beat them. That is a sign of a good team no matter how you look at it. To play the way the other team does.

when carney gets ample minutes, he plays with a different swagger and confidence...now he doesnt earn more minutes often but he did tonite...i really hope moe tries to get him 20 minutes a game from here on out just to give him confidence...he doesnt have to be a scorer all the time but he can be athletic nd play some d on wing guys to give iggy a break

evans will be a great role/bench big for this team once we get a legit pf too...hes got so much energy

really impressed bc the supporting cast seems to be getting better as this season has worn on (esp since the korver trade)

We're now closer to Toronto (3.5 games back) than Jersey is to us (4 games)

Did anyone really expect this run?

I know we had that easy stretch of games, but this team is hammering bad teams like I have rarely seen, and seems to suddenly find a way to compete against good teams... even on the road. And its not like any one player is even carrying the load or leading us. We overcome bad nights by Dala, Lou, Miller and just take it in stride.

Maybe I was missing something, but watching this team run out to a lousy 18-31 record while seeming to give great effort in no way prepared me for this team that the Sixers have metamorphosed into.

They are just collectively imposing their will on teams- which is rare for a team so young and unaccustomed to success.
