More evidence last night of how Jokic differs significantly from Embiid -- the NBA's first ever 30-20-20 triple-double.

Again, if you're going to organize a team around the center position in today's game, it needs to be someone who has the unique ability to function as a "point center" like Jokic.

So have we heard anything lately? What's the plan?

If Embiid is out all next year... does PG ask for a trade?

I don't think he's all that interested in winning.

Maybe. But I think we can all agree all things considered he'd rather be in Cali not caring. Especially if there's going to be another entire year where the team is essentially tanking.

I have a suspicion Joel already knew he was headed for a long uphill battle to come back to his pre-injury form from last year. Hence his decision to play for the US injured so that he could win some hardware for his career. I think it’s partly also why he opted to play for the US instead of France or Cameroon.

I think Joel opts for the German injections, rest and rehab. I do hope they at least go back into his knee for a closer look with a scope.

This all makes sense.

With this news I can’t see him being traded this summer. Wishing a full recovery for the big fella. He gets a lot of flack, but I’m sure he’ll do everything he can to play at a high level again.

My favorite player since Iverson. I'm going to continue to support him. He has the surgery now...By mid May he'll be reevaluated. He's got five months to recover and get back in shape. I like this. I think it's going to work.

I’m anesthesia doc. My buddy is ortho doc. We have discussions all the time. Embiid is almost 300 pounds. The wear and tear and the injury history on the knees.

He’s likely or already bone on bone. Not sure how much a diagnostic knee scope will do. Notice they didn’t say anything about MRI scans. Because there may not be anything to fix.

I just hope he can manage the pain. Play limited minutes and games and still be impactful for 20-25 minutes he can give the team. A ton of money to pay someone that.

I wish Embiid the best. I never thought he would last longer than age 29. I’m a KU grad so followed his entire career.

Isn't a diagnostic knee scope for identifying the problem (areas of pain)? Joel is having arthroscopic knee surgery which is an attempt to fix the problem right? I'm in no way trying to start an argument, I just thought there was a difference between the two. His career is on the line. At best he can hope to return and play for a few more years and then probably live with some arthritis for the rest of his life. Either way I hope he makes a full recovery. We need him.

I don't know what we need to keep in mind. What's he going to do, demand a trade? He's untradeable.

Did the Sixers Dr or front office say the arthroscopic surgery was to "fix" his knee?

Have we heard anything from the Sixers org or just a relayed message by Shams?
