Steve Kerr bringing that up in an emotional press conference shouldn't really come as a surprise. Especially since he has been affected very personally by this subject (his father assassinated in Beirut).
Not really sure why he's not allowed to bring something like this up or why anyone would take exception to it.
He's certainly 'allowed' to say anything he chooses. But a very public figure choosing to react to a horrific event with a political screed opens himself up to criticism. I would venture that few are aware of Kerr's personal situation, and even if they were it doesn't mean they automatically agree with his politics.
I suppose you're right. Allowed wasn't the right word. I just find it weird that he's being criticized. Everything he said is exactly what's happening, it wasn't really a partisan take, to be honest.
Either way, agree or disagree, I wouldn't come away from it thinking he was acting.
