A giant TPE and shedding the choker wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, except now you have to replace him. Would the Wiz take a 29 1st straight up for Beal (salary into the Harden TPE)? That's your only possible play.

Harden possibly leaving is just one of the reasons D'Antoni will be the next coach.

If you were Washington, would you take that.

Why would we bring in D'Antoni if Harden leaves? The only reason to bring in D'Antoni is to appease Harden.

Sources tell Haynes, however, that "Harden will only entertain suitors that present a competitive roster and the basketball freedom for the star to be himself."

Man, it's not as bad as the Simmons situation, but this is some lame ****. It seems like he's insinuating that we weren't allowing him to be himself, lol. He was allowed to take all the step back 3s his heart desired.

In other words, Morey's gonna wait for Harden to make his decision before he hires a coach during which time all of the top candidates will be hired by other teams, Harden will leave for Houston and we'll be stuck with MDA anyway.

Nah that sounds like he's coming back .. I don't understand what y'all missing here. He literally described us with a better fitting coaching situation.

Harden is basically saying "hire MDA and I'll sign". Please don't do either.

Houston - please, do us all a favor and offer this bum the moon. Why anyone thinks you can win anything with James Harden after all the evidence in the world to the contrary is beyond me.
always a jump shot away.

I see where he's coming from even if I don't agree with it. Glenn wanted him to take a step back to accommodate Embiid's ball dominance.

We may be better served with him getting more usage and Jo getting less.

Need the next coach to figure it out, sell the stars on the plan, and then make it work. No pressure!

Real talk: what contract would you offer Harden?
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Let me be me translates to shooting when he has his legs and looking washed when he doesn’t against any decent defender, spraying the ball out to shooters at times and partying his ass off even if there is a big game the next day. In other words I want a coach I own.

Six years ago that made some sense, now let’s just hope for some assets in a S&T.

And that's why you don't have players like Harden on your roster. Their mentality is inconsistent with winning. You can't possibly make Harden a part of your team nucleus and expect to compete against teams with elite players who are winners.

S & T doesn’t work because it’s all up to Harden.

Let me reiterate. Harden has all the leverage.

I'd offer him 4 years / $150M on a declining contract:

Year 1: $40M
Year 2: $38M
Year 3: $36M
Year 4: $34M

After 1 year if things don't work out he should still have trade value.

Not if he wants to go to a contender like Phoenix. We have to play ball. That may be the best outcome.

I agree but that seems like his only other "contending" option. But there Durant and Booker need the ball, whereas here it's only Embiid. Doesn't appear to be what he wants.

Harden has played 23 playoff games for us....17 have been bad or awful. 2 were great, 1 very good, 3 good.

Why the hell do we want this loser to come back?

This hysteria by some in the media and fans that if Harden walks we're screwed....ridiculous.

Having thought about it, I think Phoenix is an interesting one. I see Phoenix as a potentially better fit for Harden as both Durant/Booker can C & S and play off ball. Also Harden can be third banana on that team which takes pressure off him.

Maybe do some research on the salary cap situation and the ramifications of Harden walking before you commented..

Google "what happens if Harden walks".

And think whether a GM or owner with sanity would do that.

There is a reason 76ers are all in on bringing him back.

Sign and trade.

Harden was godawful in both seasons of playoff games he played for us. And he's only getting older.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
