I swear, every interview now they ask Ben/Joel how their egos will coincide as if they're the first pair of elite players to play together. Annoying AF.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards

The whole idea of elite players having problems sharing the spotlight with each other is false. You have a few examples of bad apples like Kobe and Kyrie, but generally speaking, stars love to play with each other.

If there is no conflict with positions on the court then the norm should be that egos of superstars are irrelevant.

Picking Ingram and Mitchell over him is one thing, but the "bitter pill" and the "contributes to winning" lines are the latest in a long line of oddly personal critiques of the guy. Like even if you don't like the guy, you're still picking him 4th. I don't see the same kind of negative statements about Tatum or other guys they took after him.

It's odd, there was definitely an undercurrent of anti-Simmons stuff going on at ESPN before he was drafted. Some of their college guys didn't like him for whatever reason as well.

It's quite strange for people who are so close to basketball who seem to be overly enamoured with players who are basically pure scorers. You'd expect that from casual fans, not from experts.

It's specifically Givony and Schmidt, who were at draft express/yahoo before joining espn with woj last year. Theyve been saying oddly personal stuff about the kid since he was in high school. My guess is he blew them off for an interview or something when he was 16.

Seth Greenberg was another; a few others in their college basketball ranks. Greenberg was repeating stuff on the air that patently wasn't true.

Givony definitely has a personal issue with Simmons to still keep it up even now. My guess is that Ben railed his girl.

Why does every interviewer have to ask who is the man on the Sixers.

Do they ask that to the Warriors, nope.

There can be more than one man on a team, Ben and Jojo just happen to be mature enough not to care who is the man. Fultz was draft partially at least cause he doesn't care either (although right now he could use some Ben arrogance).

Let them play, stop trying to cause drama, media.

I've read a lot of posts on the general board about DM being the ROY and stuff like that. And to be honest, I hope DM wins it. Last year the lesser player won and look at Dario and Biid. They are incredible this year. I am pretty sure, Ben will be way better next season and who cares if he doesn't win the ROY? He will be an All-Star next season.

Let's be fair to Mitchell. 54% true shooting isn't all that inefficient. It's not like he's Dennis Schroder out there.

Now that Rodney Hood is gone, there's nobody left on Utah that is a real threat for consistent high volume scoring. So if Mitchell can maintain his current efficiency while continuing to carry the sole scoring load, his narrative will be strong. Utah hovering around .500 will just enhance his case.

If Ben wants it, he has to come get it. He needs to start taking over games with his scoring a little more frequently.

I sometimes feel like every question asked and opinion held of the Sixers by national types is basically a bunch of repressed jealousy and anger because of The Process.

I think he is doing just fine BOTH sides of the ball.

Bruh, I don't know why you're trying to sell me on something.

I'm just saying for people to not blow out Mitchell's candle by way of some sort of biased allegiance to Ben. Mitchell is having an excellent campaign.

They did ask that question to the Warriors all the time when they got Durant. Then they won a title and they stopped asking. The media's job is to create compelling stories. An ego conflict between two emerging superstars is a good story, Fortunately we don't have that here, but if we want them to stop asking, I guess the Sixers will just have to go win a title

I think that's who he compares favorably to in his prime. I have no doubt his midrange game will become at least Derozan-esque.
Likely puts up more gaudy rebound/assist numbers due the higher pace of play nowadays.
