FA 2024.
“The Sixers will not re-sign any of their own FA except for Paul Reed and they will be very quiet in free agency.”
They aren’t going to sign any multi year deals other than Reed and maybe Petrusev, and all the first wave guys are going to want multi year deals.
The deal for Harden will be expirings and picks.
Now, if they can get Dame that all changes.
I mean if Daryl could turn Harden into Siakam, then we don’t have to waste a year waiting. Only other FA that I think is worth it is Jaylen. Otherwise, 2024 FA doesn’t really excite me. The other “big” free agents are…Harden and Harris lol.
1. Harden for Siakam (3-teamer?)
2. Harris for Dinwiddie/DFS
Maxey/Dinwiddie
Melton/Springer
DFS/Tucker
Siakam/McDaniels
Embiid/Reed
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Barlow/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Yeah, it’s not great looking at those deals as possible comparisons.

Exactly. This is the downside of holding off on extending Maxey assuming we aren't trading him.

If Dame becomes available, they very well might be trading him.

You might be correct but is Portland really trading Dame now with the deal they just gave Jerami Grant? That doesn't seem like a move that's characteristic of a team that wants to rebuild.
Personally I'd rather keep Maxey given Dame's age and contract but that's me.

I’m not trading Maxey for Dame even if Maxeys new contract is $150M / 5 years

Maxey may be getting more. Still wouldn't trade him for Dame

Whoa whoa calm down folks, this isn't LA or Boston giving these type of deals. But then again imagine if the Lakers, yet again imagine if the Warriors offered Poole... nm
Edit: Context matters here. What would you expect Indiana to do faced with the smallest percent chance of netting a player like Haliburton? Memphis is in damage control, but consider the markets here. I mean this reaction reminds me of a player... can't remember his name, but he's somewhere in the desert now I think.

I don’t really care about Boston, GS, Miami, NY and LA.
Whatever.
We still can win championship in Philly.

About the exit part. I get it.
Curious about real expectations on Maxey’s extension. $150-180M / 5 years?

Maxey’s extension depends on a couple things. Ultimately, (the quiet part out loud) whether or not we decide to keep building around Embiid next year. Maxey should get at minimum 5/200M as it stands if he becomes an all star this year.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
The Sixers are in rare company... by looking at multi-year extensions, trades, and FA acquisitions yesterday there are only 4 NBA teams who did nothing.
Sixers, Knicks, Hornets, Hawks
Every Western Conference team either did a multi-year extension, trade, or FA signing.
BTW, I'm sure we'll see Adam Silver treat all of those contracts obviously negotiated BEFORE FA officially was allowed to start with the same seriousness as he did the Sixers losing two 2nds for PJ Tucker.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 2
I’d happily give Maxey a huge extension if takes a step forward as a playmaker next year. The big risk imo is if he takes another leap & sneaks onto 3rd team All NBA. I think the probability of that is really low but it’s not unthinkable.

Didn't make a single draft pick and boycotted free agency altogether. Daryl Less-ey is trying to obtain the WOAT GM status.

We should’ve signed Troy Brown Jr. I think he got 2 yrs $8M from the Wolves.

As much as I love Maxey, which is a lot, he isn't a 5/200 guy. I think a lot of teams get caught in this trap. To me, max deals should be reserved for guys who are 2-way studs or a stud 1-way and at a minimum a net neutral on the other end. To me, Maxey is always going to be limited by his height on the defensive end. You can't have 40 mil locked into a player who you have to scheme around or hide on one side of the court (see Ben Simmons).
