Re: Poll: Who do you want with #3? (VOTE AGAIN)
I don't know that Russell can be an All Star. What I do know is that I firmly believe we need to get our PG of the future and I don't know that Mudiay is ever going to be a good complement to Noel/Joel. I think Russell can be.
Above all else, I don't want to walk away from tonight having no idea what this organization is doing anymore. We tanked, we have enough "assets", time to try and win some games.

Re: Poll: Who do you want with #3? (VOTE AGAIN)
Probability of them being atleast an all-star..
Russell can be an all-star if he can play without another PG (pertaining to size) on the court. If Russell can defend other elite PGs, doesn't have problem handling the ball full time and can breakdown the defense (dribbling skills and lateral quickness). I'm really sure he can be an all-star. My biggest problem with Russell is what if he can't play PG at the NBA? I don't think he has the skillset to create space against good swingman defenders, while I don't think he can shoot over his small defenders like his days in OSU. For me, that's the rationale why he has a high bust label (high reward also).
Obviously, Mudiay needs to improve his shooting. Then he needs to refine his PG skills (less TO prone and more decisive) by experience quickly at the PG position. From the get go, I think people will be surprised about Mudiay's shooting. My guess is that it has improved since his CBA days based on reports and video. I also think he'd have a good rookie year. Maybe a mix between Tyreke and MCW's ROY season, but Mudiay should have more upside than both. I really think he'd be a dynamic PG that is a match-up nightmare for any PGs in the future.
Kristap for me is a rich man's pick and roll/pop or 3 and D player. The way I see it, he's like a better jumpshooter but way less defensive instinct version of Noel. 15ppg (opportunistic on offense, won't get to the line a lot and not good iso player) 6rpg (weak frame) and 1.3-1.5 blocks per game (thanks to his length and athleticism) is the kind of statline I do see for him. Obviously, Kristap needs to get stronger and have better physique. He's a weak rebounder per 40 and even if the other teams play small ball, guys like Draymond green should easily push him around. IMO, he's the least likely guy to be an all-star and it's because of two things, really low probability of breaking down defense and anchoring defense (should be a good shotblocker though) due to his lack of strength and rebounding.
Jahlil should get in shape to be a star, and that should really help his conditioning and defense. I do feel like Jahlil is conserving or has deficit of energy on the defensive end. Jahlil has the tools (measurements and IQ) to be a good player at both ends. Out of these group, he probably has the highest probability of being an all-star. With conditioning as the easiest flaw to correct and stats favoring big man. 17-20ppg, 8-10 rpg and atleast a block per game should be a good guesstimate for him.

The question is "who do you want at #3" not "what player, if taken at #3, would cause you to dropkick your television."

I disagree. Mudiay was the best high school guard in the country because of superior physical development. However guards like Russell are quickly catching up physically with better skill sets and IQ 's . Possibly better work ethics. Russell improved way more than Mudiay over the last year or so . I think he will only get better. I truly believe Mudiay ceiling is lower than Russell's. Russell has less experience playing point guard however shown brilliance ,leadership, versatility and glimpses of dominance . Something that Mudiay has never shown besides physical tools in which will soon be negated by nba talent. He looked average in China.

Ultimately, so do I. Despite my severe reservations about passing on Porzingis, I also think that it is the right pick.
Simply playing the averages it is smarter to take Russell than Porzingis, but I DO think that Porzingis has the higher upside.

Kristaps Porzingas... will be the pick at #3. Highest upside in the draft. Comes from a basketball family. I see tenacity. Perennial All-Pro by age 24. Hinkie isn't worried about getting fired.
For all the fans clamoring for shooters (Russell & Hezonja), you're getting Kristaps. For the rest who want to fill the PG position, Sam will do that with a trade up for Payne, Grant or Wright.

“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

What do you think are his chances of coming within 85-90% of his ceiling if he is playing for the 6ers behind Noel and Embiid. ?
Make them respond to your way of playing not the other way around

Still think Mudiay is more a Hinkie-type of player.
Wouldn't be shocked if he's our PG of the future.

Re: Poll: Who do you want with #3? (VOTE AGAIN)
Final Draft Day Want list:
1.D'Angelo Russell- Want him and want him bad. Would fit well on the team, has star swag and skill.Would finally bring a prospect to Philly who can take over a game offensively and hit a jumper. BUT I have a gut feeling Lakers take him at 2 tho, it is just what happens to us in Philly.I already have it in my head, hearing Silver say it at pick 2 to the Lakers, the air getting sucked out of my chest and the room....only to be followed by the 3rd selection being Kristaps Porzingis, and his awkward,un enthusiastic, sour puss while walking to the stage makes it hurt even more.
2.Jahlil Okafor- Embiid's health is legitimate concern, especially long term. Okafor is a standout prospect, a winner and gives you alot of what Embiid does schematically.Brett Brown will have a field day working with a big man with his skills. I take him happily, watch him play next year and figure it all out later IF Embiid returns to form and can stay healthy.Im sure Hinkie can figure out a way to get value out of 1 of 3 7 foot, blue chip prospects.
Outside of those 2 guys, barring some crazy scenario that KAT falls to 3 (which isn't happening) Its a total toss up imo.
my wants are probably: Hezonja,Mudiay,Porzingis in that order.
Porzingis checks a ton of boxes in terms of talent, size etc. BUT the history of past euro prospects still leaves me uneasy with him. I know someone is bound to hit eventually, but the odds are against him. Outside of Pau and Dirk, none of the "high praise" lottery pick talent from Europe has panned out. Add in the Saric issue, and this town with likely go ape **** if we take this kid over one of the two listed above.
Mudiay is an intriguing point guard prospect, and his game likely suits the NBA. He's got legit point guard skills, which are often overlooked by many people dissecting his game. IF and I repeat IF, he could develop consistency on his jumper, He could become a nightmare matchup for opposing guards....but I also think we need a legitimate shooter at the 1 to help space the floor if we are in fact building around 2 big men. Mudiay would likely put up #'s on our team, but after watching what MCW, Ish Smith,Wroten etc have done so far #'s wise, I think the deepest position in the league could be addressed later.
Hezonja has a game and attitude we would likely love. Assuming he will come over immediately, Id probably have no issues with us picking him up in a trade down scenario. His shooting would space the floor, he'd be a solid transition player in our uptempo scheme, and I'm sure BB would be able to get him open looks with the 2 bigs demanding attention down low. Adding him and someone like Grant/Wright would probably lessen the blow of losing out on Russell/Okafor.
Gonna be a a nervous day/night leading up till our selection, but should be fun and entertaining for us. Hopefully Hinkie makes some moves and we can come out with some legitimate players to add to the mix next season. Don't think this fan base can fathom another wait and see, tankapalooza season.

I think Russell gets picked by LA. I wanted Mudiay but we should take Okafor and either pawn him off (for Mudiay or Mario preferably) or keep him. I doubt Okafor would be cool with playing here tho with Embiid looming.
yet again the better fit slips through our fingers.
I just want to end a draft night without having to sell myself on it for once. The Jrue trade had me shook and then Hinkie traded away all those seconds but I eventually got over it. Wasn't pleased with the Embiid and Saric picks but I eventually got over it...I just want to take a guy, see him play and progress next year without any strings attached for once.

FWIW, I think this is the biggest test for Hinkie so far. He did well in his other moves. I also think he'd have a lot of criticisms thrown if he pass up either Russell and Okafor, the Lakers making the play-offs next year and IF embiid misses some time. For now, the media has a hard time criticizing him since he's been hitting the jackpot so far with the Biid, Noel, MCW, Jrue deal, MCW deal and others.
