How much can we give him then?

you can give him however much you want, but its only worth 50% in matching. ie if you give him 30M, its worth 15M as matching salary. So to avoid 1st apron you can only bring back 50% or less of his outgoing contract

Gotcha. Ty for that explanation

I'm telling you Daryl is going to surprise us.

Lauri was my number one choice and he would have been absolutely worth it IMO.

But now that they have PG, Lauri is overkill. They need a Bobby Portis type at PF now. A rebounder/defender/secondary rim protector.

In fact, S&T KJ Martin to Utah for John Collins could work.

Id like Collins a lot actually. Don't get me excited! I can't wait to see the move Morey pulls out. He's truly gonna earn his money soon enough. These other moves were almost obvious. Now for the tricky home run...

EDIT: I don't see why BYC would apply to KJM. I would need to see the CBA rules on that.

According to this the BYC rule would apply in a KJM sign and trade.

Even worse it appears a BYC signing cannot be traded at all (so no S&T) until Jan. 15th per the Larry Coon FAQ:

I don't think McCain or Council are going anywhere. They are potential "diamonds" in the rough that you have for cheap.

Stanford wrote:I would LOVE Tillman

What I like about Tillman, besides his skillset, versatility, and potential as a shooter, is that acquiring him would disrupt the Celtics' succession plan. They view him as a long-term replacement for Al Horford, and I can see them letting him fill in for Kristaps Porzingis during his early season absence due to injury.

If you look at question 96, I think the BYC extension from Dec 15 to Jan 15 applies if you're not doing a S&T. But I'm not sure.

That Jan 15 date comes after "In lieu of the previous BYC rules for ordinary trades". But then the sentence after that is still confusing: "The extension to January 15 applies to both sign-and-trade transactions and regular signings."

Any move Morey makes cannot hard cap them at the 1st apron.

Yeah, it's the concept though.
Council has a contract under the vet min and McCain took 2 vet mins.

What matters are the paths to improve the forward position over BBPaul (first part of the tweet)

That sucks. Maybe I'm being greedy rn but I need Daryl to keep cooking and get me a solid starting 4 today.

I think your take is correct. It's basically like a FA and not being able to trade them until later in the season, but if you S&T you can trade that FA. Unless the most recent CBA has changed things.

Look back to the Malcolm Brogdon trade from the Bucks to Pacers when he was an RFA. He went from $1.5m to $20m and in a S&T.

He was signed on July 6th and the S&T executed at the point of signing with him going to Indiana. He was a BYC player at that point.
