Really feels like an under-the-radar Lakers play to trade for Harden right now.

A savvy move would still be the Pelicans. They have the picks to make it happen.

I am SHOCKED Harden would tell such a damaging lie in an attempt to weasel his way out.

Even if it was true it would be dumb of Harden to admit it because he could very cost himself money in penalties and not just the Sixers/Morey.

All this player movement is because the NBA insists on kneecapping the market value of real stars. There's no super teams formed if the stars that can legitimately command 50+ % of the cap actually get that much. None of them are going to give up the ability to maximize their earnings to play with other stars who likewise would have to sacrifice a lot to join another star.

Not always but I find it often that superteams are formed when superstars can’t perform like their prime years anymore so they team up and hide their decline so they can get their supermax once their contract is up.

You can’t blame morey if he didn’t get a good enough offer for a top 20 player. This might be a blessing in disguise for James, comeback have a big year till the trade deadline and I’m sure he will find a team or just play well and wait for another team to pay him.

Going to the clippers was not a good option how injury ridden team they are. They ain’t wining jack. Philadelphia with Nurse, another year of maxey progress is in the mix. Not mentioning that 7’2 unbelievably skilled who he has immaculate chemistry with

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards/Council
George/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

While I may not agree with the top 20 player part (more like top 35 IMO), Harden being impatient is the biggest pain in the backside of this whole thing.

This is the problem with players - Harden flirted with Houston for so long, then Udoka came along and wanted no part of him. So instead of going quietly to Morey right away in late April, or even going to Morey in mid-May, he waited until June 30th to opt in. Literally the day before the league year starts. A time when teams aren't thinking trades much as the draft just ended and FA is about to start. Then gets mad when 5 weeks later Morey hasn't found a trade that sufficed and throws this fit.

This just baffles me how unaware players/agents are.
For TWO WEEKS Harden had to know Houston was off the table.
For TWO MONTHS Harden sat and didn't really communicate to Morey what his intentions were.
Then expected to be traded in a 2 week window?

Like, I"m just so baffled by the lack of awareness. How about if Harden instead, after the playoffs, went to Morey, said "you aren't giving me the contract, I'm gonna opt in if you find a trade for me". Frankly, I don't blame Morey for wanting to sit back with last years tampering charge levied and being investigated for a wink wink deal. If Harden actually agreed to something in that time there would 100% be an investigation and Joe Smith/Minnesota situation. I think if this went down the way the CP3 trade away from the LAC went then this whole thing would be over by now.

The NBA is fining Sixers star James Harden $100,000 for his recent comments referring to franchise president Daryl Morey as a “liar,” sources tell ESPN.

The NBA last year "did an investigation" with the Sixers and found there was nothing wrong that went down between the Sixers and Harden.

Then Harden makes comments calling Morey a liar.

The NBA re-opens an investigation which consists of..... asking James Harden what he meant by those comments.

They didn't think to do that in their investigation last year? Unserious league.

You'd think step 1 of any investigation last year would be to meet with James Harden and ask him if he made any handshake deal.

100k is the largest fine a player can get. Silver finally put his foot down on this madness.

I guess this was his plan to "make things uncomfortable".

That said, Harden made 300k in seconds during his live stream in China dancing around selling his wine, so....
