he played well against Duncan on 11/14, but his best game, by far, was when he took KAT apart on 11/23. even though his performance dropped right after that, when the reports broke (he finally apologized on 11/29), November was his best statistical month, at least going by points AND rebounds. though, yes, his points were up (thanks Ish) the first couple weeks of February, before he went down. http://www.espn.com/nba/player/gamelog/_/id/3135048/year/2016/jahlil-okafor

Hard to believe that you don't remember how bad he was playing during that time, we talked it to death on these boards (the team was unbelievably awful the month before Ish came to town, and Okafor was a big part). Check out his splits to see why: https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/o/okafoja01/splits/2016

Basically, in November he was playing big minutes (33 per night) and was getting his 17.4 ppg on absurdly bad efficiency (48% TS) and a dreadful asst:TO (about 1:2). After Ish came around, his minutes dropped to about 27ppg but he still scored 17ppg and he started scoring much much ore efficiently (60% TS)--going from league worst to way above average--and he cut his TOs down too. He became a very useful offensive player or those couple months.

It's why I was extremely high on him after his rookie year. He was firing on all cylinders before his injury his defense was even starting to come along.

But then last year happened and it's impossible to have selective amnesia. It may have just been a couple of hot months it sometimes happens with players I remember Mike James going through a year with the Raptors like that as did Micheal Carter-Williams his rookie year.

finally got some semblance of realistic immediate expectations from Joel himself and even BC (sort of).

if OK4 shows up to camp healthy, than i think all the acolytes of Hinkie "BUT" may have to rethink their negativity:
this is probably a very good year to have that "insurance". not saying Jah fits the schemes Brett wants to implement (though at some point, a coach does have to scheme around his talent) but more like a long reliever to eat innings while our star starter safely works into shape, while learning to avoid "flopping" (his word).

Or you just play the two other centers that are on the roster.

well fr'sure, in the near term, they'll try to feature OK4, if he's healthy. especially if they're set on moving him. so either way, we should be seeing a lot of him while he's here.

I'm not so sure. The potential value gain from featuring Okafor (lol) is pretty marginal and almost certainly less than the value the team gains from making the playoffs.
jonjames is a signature bet welcher.

I want Okafor traded ASAP but I am curious how the slim vegan loving Okafor looks.

I want to at least see him at least in training camp before making any deal. Hopefully having a longer offseason to work on cardio in addition to losing weight will help his mobility/conditioning. We'd get peanuts for him at this point anyway, so might as well see what we got.

There is 100% a role for him on this team next year given we are at best case scenario going to rest Embiid some games and monitor his minutes.

I'm pretty p'd off that the Bulls don't have their 2nd round pick, because they already wasted the pick on Cameron Payne. That was my most realistic dream acquisition for an Okafor trade. Very few Frontcourt players on the roster. Team tanking the season. Dumb front office. Bulls would have been a perfect match for an Okafor trade.

During a practice last week, Okafor was on the perimeter setting screens and rolling to the basket.

He would be a good option with Simmons, he can finish very well. BB is trying to make him more mobile and improve his ball movement.

The Suns have Miami's pick (top 7 protected in 2018 and unprotected in 2019.

I'd offer you that pick (adding protection in 2019 - offering you the lesser of the Miami pick or Phoenix pick) for Okafor.

But, you have to take back Brandon Knight and his awful contract.

So, a decent 1st rounder and bad contract for Okafor.

Who knows, maybe you even salvage what is left of Brandon Knight's career.

So you're being so generous as to send the 76ers a likely non-lottery pick to take on multiple years of a huge terrible contract AND throw in Okafor on top of that... smh

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

(hopefully a sign that nothing is lingering and Brett held him out a day just to kick the tires one more time.
so bad news for folks rooting he is metaphysical certitude immediate trash of zero value. but keep hope alive.
he could still break down in the next couple of days or fall apart in the pre-season.)

Keep hating on YOUNG Jah People, but You will all be back on the Bandwagon when He breaks out this year with an added jump shot, slimmed down healthy body and improved fitness.

He makes Sixers fans break out in stress hives with his defense.

On a side note, he is now 18 months removed from his surgery and still can't go full 5 on 5.

hahaha I see so much hate on him and yes his injury and defense is worrisome but once they improve because as a Personal Trainer who's been following his rehab workouts, I believe he has the ethics and determination to make it happen.

Even though I started this thread I haven't really stayed up to date with the hoopla surrounding big Jah. Someone inform me on why the dude has been hated on so hard in this city. He put some fantastic numbers as a rookie. Then dealt with injuries all season last year. Of course I know about his defensive and sometimes rebounding issues. However, he's a 3rd year player who is entering camp in seemingly the best shape of his life. He hasn't raised a lip to his troubles which I really respect. Let's give the guy a shot.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
