Miami, Houston, Chicago, Sacramento, Phoenix, and New Orleans should be all over this Ja situation.

So is Ben Simmons basically retired now? Guess it's not a bad gig. Made $200M in his NBA career (obviously taxes took a huge chunk of that)...

He should go play in Australia and return home. He’d probably have a nice second career is a lesser league overseas.

Re: NBA General Discussion
Semi-OT fantasy league
This season I’m punting rebounds. So I rostered both Embiid and Brook Lopez. Brolo’s shooting volume from deep is the same as last year, but his block rate has nearly doubled, 7.9% compared to around 4% last season. Embiid also looks like he’s trending up; he’s moving well, even had a couple of blocks last game, just pacing himself for now.
The way the league is built, it’s tough to compete in 3s and rebounds. Almost everyone contributes there, so I’d rather dominate rarer categories like blocks, steals, and assists. Bigs aren’t blocking much lately either most are hovering around 1 to 1.5 per game, so owning an elite rim protector is a real edge.
That’s why Wemby is such a cheat code, he basically locks up blocks on his own. If you miss on him, I like Bona as a sleeper if he can average 2+ per game. Brook Lopez and Kornet also fit that mold. For steals, Cason Wallace looks like this year’s Dyson Daniels dominating steals per game.
Guards who can rack up assists are more valuable now since guys like FVV, Dame, and Haliburton have been out. Cade’s stock rises here, same with Lamelo. Ideally, I’d pair Cade with another guard in the 5–8 assist range (I had him paired with Brunson on one league), plus a sleeper like Hollins, Gillispie, or Fears to round it out. Been watching Reed Sheppard, I have him on my team and he see a lot of red flags in his game but there’s still hope he can turn it around as long as the Rockets can play well and overwhelm teams with their size.
I don’t stress injuries much, anyone can go down. Last season I lost because Wemby randomly dealt with a blood clot, so if guys like Kawhi, Embiid, or Paul George slide to the 50–70 range, I’ll take them every time.
My one regret is skipping VJ. I tend to underrate rookies, assuming most settle around 15–16 ppg unless they’re rare outliers like LeBron. On the bright side, that same bias helped me avoid Cooper Flagg.
For alpha targets, I focus on players from teams pushing for the playoffs. Lamelo’s a prime buy-low. people might be worried about the ankle, but he’s had rest, and the Hornets look serious this year. Not for Zion, Pels looks like they’re tanking.

Pels should. They can just trade Zion and Dejounte for Ja and one of their wings.

Anyone excited with Embiid going up against Wemby?

Re: NBA General Discussion
I’ve been watching a lot of games lately since I joined this ultra-competitive fantasy league. From what I’ve seen, there are only three real contenders right now, OKC, the Nuggets, and the Rockets. They operate like machines and carry that intimidating presence every night.
Teams like ours have the right mix of pieces, but we’re still incomplete, dealing with injuries and trying to figure things out. There’s a real chance we can reach that same level if luck swings our way with health and we find the right chemistry.

I'm not saying they will win it all but the Pistons look good too. We/76ers have a lot of luck, except it is all bad.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way. (Marlo)

I really like this Bucks team actually. I think they’re gonna be my pick to make it out of the East if they stay healthy.

Kon with 19/9/8 tonight against LAL. He’s having a great start to his NBA career.

Avdija quietly putting up 25-5-5 every night and nobody bats an eye. Even I don’t. We all just assume it’s another Beal averaged 30 kind of fluke season.

Firesale incoming for the Clips? Would you do a Kawhi for Paul George and their picks?

Re: NBA General Discussion
The Clippers’ problem is the league’s figured out their style of offense which is slow, single-point attack. Today’s offenses are faster, multi-point attack system which is harder to defend.

Not me. I'm still pissed we didn't try to beat Portland's offer.

How about for Anthony Davis? AD would solve a lot of our frontcourt problem.
