He said a cuss word. NBA wont tolerate that with its minor age fans.

I'm all for the NBA punishing players for what they post on social media if they are referencing drugs, or threatening people with violence or things like that, but fining him for cursing is just silly.

Even if there are rules that state what is allowed and not allowed, then should start with a warning.

EDIT: Actually, as I think about this further, I think that I AM in fact in agreement with the league fining him. They have a product, and they want that product to be family friendly, and Joel should know better.

I am guessing that he will never do it again, and it might as well be an example for the rest of the players.

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Landings seem very deliberate. He seems to consciously using a bit less lift to have more control. Hopefully, he keeps the same control when there is an opposing player draped on him. Also the shot is quicker.

He didn't just say the word but used it in reference to a player's parent. That would have contributed to it as well.

As he should. Last year, he was just a 64% finisher and he turned it over as soon as the help defender converged on him.

If they're policing players social media they should make it consistent. Dray Green's dick pic apparently not worth the league's time.

He needs to get better in the post though. He can't just throw up his arms and say oh well I turned it over so let me stay on the outside more. The only way to get better is to do it in real games. Embiid can be a monster if he protects the ball better and shoots better close to the basket. He still should shoot jumpers and threes but he has to be able to punish people inside too.

Exactly he has the potential to be an elite scorer. I want him to get better in the paint and not just rely on his jumper. Having someone as big and talented as him shy away from the paint would be disappointing. We want him to be able to play in small lineups but also punish them offensively right?

The only time I want to resort to dumping the ball in the post is when teams have a small ball line-up out there against us. Otherwise, let Embiid be a face-up guy and finisher off creation by Fultz and Simmons. Post play is inefficient and flow stopping.

The threat of it opens up other shots though. Teams won't let him go one on one against most centers in the league as he matures. Also just posting up forces the defender you are posting up farther away from the ball giving everyone else more spacing.

It's not something they should build the offense around, but he should still work on it, and I am sure he is, 30 second highlight reel nonwithstanding.

Post play isn't flow stopping or inefficient when done right. Embiid down low can do a lot of things. It can draw fouls thus getting the Sixers in the penalty sooner. It can get a better shot for Embiid as long as he knows how to finish. The Gasol brothers can score down low. Embiid using a jump hook from within 5 feet can become automatic. Post play can draw the double team and create open looks to shooters like Redick and Covington. If teams don't double then Embiid one on one can create havoc.

Effective post play along with transition defense is the key to slowing down teams like Golden State. If we try to get into a full court shootout with them, chances are, we're going to lose every single time.

However, a fast paced full court game is better against older slower teams. If our guys know when to speed it up or slow it down, we will be difficult to beat.

It's "inefficient" only from the isolation of shots put up in the post. But this ignores everything else that can happen from post play:

1.) Easy baskets, layups and dunks. Most scoring systems will score this as a "dunk" rather than a post-up, even if you happen to back your man all the way to Timbuktu and turn around and put the ball in.

2.) Kick-outs from doubles. Highly efficient offense. 3pt shots have a higher percentage off kick outs from the post than from swinging it around on the perimeter.

3.) Free throws from getting hacked. The most efficient offense. Has the added benefit of getting their players in foul trouble.

4.) Offensive rebounds/putbacks. There's a strong correlation between having a bruising post player and getting offensive rebounds. Hard to get them if you're hanging around the three point line. Also very efficient offense.

But absolutely, if you build your offense around eight foot baby hooks it's probably very inefficient offense.

Embiid is a basketball savant. He can see something one time then do it. Self said this when he was at Kansas.

If KAT is 7'0" in shoes, Embiid has got to be 7'3". It's ridiculous how much bigger he is than Towns. And were they trash talking in the clip?
