Jrue only shot 88 3s all year. He had a weird year playing off the ball with Collison at the point. Then he turned around and has been an above average 3 point shooter in the league since day 1. I wouldn't use his college shooting stats as evidence of much. Fox has a lot further to go as a shooter than Jrue did (though he has certain skills Jrue did not).

MCW failed because he wasn't as quick and was a **** finisher...so his shooting woes are magnified. Wroten was just a **** finisher (and got hurt) and FT shooter. Yes poor shooting is scary because it allows a team to just not guard you outside...but you do that with a guy who is as fast as Fox is and you are giving him a runway to attack the basket or get to a part where his jumper isn't as ****. He has a pretty good floater right now (something MCW also never got). Its not the death sentence people make it out to be... recent guys of this type Mudiay and Exum both have issues outside of just their shooting (with Exum it seems to be all mental for example/ Mudiay just isn't as quick as advertised)..
again tho..its still a major concern and doubling up on it when we already have Simmons makes it a bit more worrisome for sure. But honestly you could say the same for most of the PGs sans Fultz. Are we sure DSJ can play off the ball? His jumper is also not exactly knock down. Ball I swear I never saw him take a jumper off the bounce. We don't even know what Frank is. They all have some "fit" questions.
But as stated earlier, sadly we aren't at the point to pass up talent for fit. Not yet. We need perimeter players. Period. Its up to our FO and scouts to determine if these guys can fix or overcome their flaws.

Also not mentioned in my long winded post on the previous page:
Mikal Bridges- 32 blocks, 60 steals
I'd take him as the starting 2 on this team in a second.

Nope, but I'm sure he'll go to the combine. If he gets glowing reviews, he should go.

Negrodamus wrote:If we're doing the whole "age to excellence" thing, then it's inconceivable that Dedric Lawson isn't a top 15 pick. At 6'9 with a 7'2 wingspan at the age of 19, he has the aforementioned blocks and steals, 19ppg, 10 rpg, 3.3 apg, shooting 74% from FT (FTr 43%) and 63% at the rim. I am just reading now that he's looking to transfer with his brother from Memphis, but he should really go pro. He's a prototypical PF in the NBA.
I'm with you here. It's a mistery for me why Lawson has not a lot of love from the NBA scouts.
I read that he, his brother (and his father, maybe the answer it's here) are going to transfer from Memphis.
Apparently no draft process for Lawson this year.
Maybe the problem with him is out of the floor not on.

I have been following the daily changes in ping pong ball allocation with a high (perhaps too high) level of interest. That being stated, there is significant variance regarding the order of potential picks once you get beyond the consensus first three (Fultz, Ball and Jackson).
Look at the Ringer's 2017 NBA Draft Lottery Big Board, which came out today. They have Isaac at 4th, Lauri M at 5th, Tatum at 9th and DJ Smith Jr. at 11th. Perhaps I am taking the pre lottery position changes too seriously. https://theringer.com/ringer-nba-draft-lottery-big-board-version-5-0-2c36dc7c02cf

If Markkanen goes top 5 I will fall out of my chair.
It's pretty funny how Smith dropped 5 spots since the last time they did one of these. Pretty sure he hasn't played a game since then.

Sometimes I think the Ringer tries to be a bit off-beat in order to be edgy. I usually look at Draft Express, Nbadraft.net and to a lesser degree Chad Ford/Espn.

I think they all do that to a certain degree. Chad forde is especially bad because he clearly does favors to agents. Like last year when he got exclusive access to a Simmons workout, then Dejointe Murray (the other guy at the workout) suddenly shot up 20 spots. And he kept him in the lottery until the draft when he almost dropped out of the first round.

Hmm wonder if this will impact Josh Jackson's decision to declare at all? Still no word on him. Would definitely shake things up if he stayed for another season.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if some idiot takes Markkenen in the top 5. He's 7 feet and has a good Body. Someone will convince themselves he's the next Porzingis, and select him before all those smallish guards.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Maybe someone could have him ranked in the top 5, but I don't see anyone drafting him there without a trade up.
1. He's not going top 3.
2. I don't see any of the teams that could pick at 4 or 5 (Celtics, Phoenix, us, Magic, hopefully not Knicks) taking him. I guess maybe the magic could do something crazy?

He would be perfect in Vivek's 4 on 5 cherrypick system, as the guy who doesn't have to play defense or rebound.

Actually I guess the Kings could also get 4 or 5 if the swap happens.

^^^ This is a great reminder of the game being played between agents and the media.

I feel like we're destined to take Dennis Smith Jr. Wish he wasn't completely oblivious on defense.
