Especially since Rivers has so many intangibles red flags when it comes to his likeability amongst his peers and his basketball IQ.

Offensive creation is what the team needs at the guard/wing spots. They have plenty of shooting there now. With Simmons out last year Tobias was making as many or more plays for others as Shake in the bubble. I think you are under rating Maxey in the long term, but Rivers being a douche in the past is well documented. I trust Morey on that call since he had him in Houston last year, but i would much prefer Teague or getting in on Hill from NO over Rivers.

Are y'all happy with the team letting go of Shayok?

I agree that shotcreation is a premier playoff skill. And if you're going to field a defensive sieve, he better be able to score off the dribble effortlessly (which Rivers can).

Don't you think it steps on the toes of Maxey's development, though? The coaches son is basically the same exact player archetype of him.

I wouldn't hate the signing, I just would have some apprehension about it.

I'd much rather have a defensive specialist like Carter-Williams if we're bringing in a veteran reserve G.

It's whatever.

He doesn't have the shotcreating abilities to ever get the green light to do in the NBA what he did in the GLeague. And his ability to be a neutral defender at the NBA is questionable.

He never really factored into our long term plans.

He looked good in the G League. He wasn’t very impressive during the regular season. He can get his own shot. That’s one of his tangible skills.

I wouldn't hate Austin Rivers. I know what people will say if he signs, but I kind of like his game.

So, the first day of FA is done and we only got Dwight. Is that a good sign?

Random thought, no idea if this is even possible, need to refresh my memory on the CBA rules. But if we do still get Noel, could he somehow be looped into a sign-and -trade scenario with the Horford trade that hasn't been finalized yet? Where we get a smaller trade exception but get Noel as part of some of that space? So Green, Ferguson, and Noel for Horford and the picks? Would allow us to still get Noel and keep our tPE as well. Is that even a thing thats possible?

Lets face it, Dwight cant be all we do at the big man spot. Embiid isnt playing 72 games and no one else on the roster is even remotely close to being able to play the 5 outside of Embiid and Howard.

We were always going to be limited in terms of FA because of our salary/cap situation. I'm not sure anyone ever thought we would be making a big splash in FA. At best we make one signing with our MLE. Personally, I think it's a good thing. If you look at the numbers that are flying around out there in FA, we are probably better off waiting out the initial spending spree and trying to get a bargain player from what's left becuase we were never going to compete from an offer standpoint.

Need to get in on this OKC-NO-MIL deal and get George Hill for Mike Scott out of it.

I’m not seeing the cause and effect. Wall wants to be traded, and somehow that nets us Harden or Beal?

I guess I was just thinking Harden might not like Wall, or Beal might not like Westbrook.

Even though Morey said he doesn't care too much about unit net ratings. The analytical output he emphasized with those heavy sample sized minutes between Ben + Joel + "shooter" (Redick) makes it crystal clear why Patty Mills was one of the first players he targeted due to his ability to run similar actions. Also probably why he wanted nothing to do with Richardson

Ugh man. Imagine if we had gotten this guy a few years ago. Or even last year.

Wouldn't mind it if we throw (parts of) our MLE to DJ Augustin. His d is suspect (we got that covered up), but otherwise he is solid all around: he is a good distributor, doesn't turn the ball over and is able to knock down his shots while able to get it off off the dribble. A better version of Neto.

He's way better than Neto. Dude can get hot.

Let's trade for George Hill and then use the T-MLE on Portis.

Realistic options are DJ Augustin, Reggie Jackson, Teague, Wanamaker, Napier, Elfrid Payton

Or try to trade for Monte Morris, George Hill, Patty MIlls, Aaron Holiday, Satoransky,

It still feels like there are 1 or 2 trades left. Maybe they are in the Bognanovich sweepstakes. Still think a PG is coming as well...cant get off the NYK and possibly Frank or DSJ. Not sure why other than buy low prospects. Definitely more to come.

I know all these kids work out, but maybe Maxey is the ultra gym rat that becomes great. Anxious to see.

I have a really good feeling about Maxey. He seems like an insanely hard worker, and something about him just oozes future greatness to me I can't really explain it. I can't wait for this season.

Personally, I think we’re almost done. Maybe like 2-3 more minor signings but no more trades.

I can see the pieces working together getting us a good reg season record. But I just cant see us beating the top teams in a 7 game series. Then I think we’re gonna be a big move its going to be in the middle of the season and it would involve Danny Green or Tobi, to shift an extra gear to prepare for the playoffs.

That’s how I’d look at it. We’re going to start the season with a team that can get us a atleast a top 4 record in the east. Then we’re going to make a trade in the middle of the season to adjust the roster for the play-offs.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
