Unbreakable wants defensive minded guards and wings.
eagereyez wants to stack defense, length and shooting.

I'm a little thrown right now because it doesn't seem like you guys think Shai can fulfill those needs. And from my point of view, he's already an excellent defender, he posses ELITE length, and his jumpshot is insanely projectable. All while possessing the shotcreating ability to be a star.

To me, Shai is so much of a slam dunk that I wouldn't even consider Mikal Bridges over him. And I love Bridges and think he would be a great piece for us.

we just need to add talent to this roster.

it's scary to think how elite defensively we'd be in all 3 levels of the court with a mikal bridges, to go along with his 3 point shooting which gives fultz and simmons the spacing they need

but i understand that we need more shot creators on this team, someone that can get his own shot, and won't be a negative on defense.

we've been harping on the lack of shot creators for the past several months now, so there's no reason why it shouldn't be a top priority now

I like Shai. I just don't even see him getting significant playing time for about maybe 2 years if we draft him. There's nothing wrong with that but that's reality. I see Bridges as a better version of Covington. I like how he plays defense on the wing. We need more of those guys. What's better than having one Covington than two Covingtons?

Simmons/Fultz/Bridges/Covington/Embiid
- 5 defenders
- 2 assisted shotmakers
- 1 inside/out post presence
- 2 distributors
- 1 shotcreater

Fultz/Gilgeous-Alexander/Covington/Simmons/Embiid
- 5 defenders
- 2 assisted shotmakers
- 1 inside/out post presence
- 3 distributors
- 2 shotcreaters

Shai preserves the length and defense that Mikal would offer while providing even more dynamic offensive qualities.

one of fultz or shai's gonna have to come off the bench. i wouldn't even mind if fultz played the harden role coming off the bench and got his 32 minutes per night.

Not me. I like Shai. But if Bridges and Shai are both on the board with the Lakers pick I'm taking Bridges. I want more defensive minded wing and guard players in this draft. But if we drafted Shai I'd be ok with that. I like what I have seen. He just will ride the bench for a while if we draft him.

That's fine, and I'm not calling you out or anyone that wants Bridges over Shai. I just think Bridges is immediate help as an off ball 3 point shooter who can defend multiple positions.

Shai and Fultz would make Embiid a 30 ppg scorer on high efficiency. They are both impressive at interior entry passing and alley oops (at least Shai is on the latter). Both are excellent at PnR. Both are multilevel scorers. And that length between them would be insane. Not to mention, there would always be 2 extremely capable, possibly high level, creators on the court at all times. That's an absurd amount of pressure for the entire game on an opposing team.

TBH Jacob Evans is IMO actually a better defender than Mikal is, he's not quite the same offensive force though. He's another one of quite a few that has me scratching my head at Fis's assertion this is not a deep draft. Its entirely conceivable we could get Shai with the Lakers pick and something resembling a Mikal Bridges with our own pick if that is what it came down to.

After watching him in the dunk contest last night, I wonder if Joe Kilgore is a deep sleeper. At 6’5 with that kind of athleticism and a pretty decent looking jumper, I wouldn’t be surprised if he blew up in the G league and became a contributor in the NBA.

So are we all out on Robert Williams?

His sophomore year regression and questions about his work ethic scare me.

I'm out on him being the Lakers pick. I'd take him with the Sixers pick since Brown could potentially get the most out of him.

I only saw him play a couple times this year. Statistically, he looks to have improved slightly in a lot of areas. The only glaring red flag to me is his FT% dropping to 47.1%, which is atrocious. May not be a huge problem as long as he's only a backup and not playing at the end of games.

If he falls to our pick I'm good with taking him as the BPA. Doubt he falls that far though.

I like Shai but you’re really wearing some rose colored glasses and projecting absolutely everything translates and develops perfectly for him, as well as fultz. Also your offensive diversity list you’re using to push shai over bridges doesn’t include shooting. A lineup of fultz, Simmons, shai could potentially have 3 non shooters which would be an unplayable lineup.
I say that while also being totally on board with Shai, while also still preferring Mikal. I just think you’re reasoning is flawed with your team offense projections if you’re not including shooting. I’m optimistic that Shai will develop into a competent shooter, but don’t think it’s a gimme, slam dunk no doubt.

No, I'm not out. I still like him depending who's left in the late lottery.

Temple should have fired Fran Dunphy 2 years ago, now they're going to piss away another season for no reason with a glorified division 2 coach.

I don't think the 76ers use their own pick. I think they use it to move Bayless.

Doncic crushing it in the last few hours against Red Star Belgrade. There may well be better players to come out of this draft down the track but I can't see any good argument for not taking the most technically advanced 18 year old possibly in the games history at number one overall.

Yea, I very much doubt we’ll keep that pick. I’m having some doubts we’ll keep the Lakers pick.

Honestly, with the "stashes" probably coming over next year to fill out the bench, I don't mind them moving the picks. Especially the later one. But I'd prefer them trade it for a future pick, rather than waste it on moving salary. This is where Hinkie would be more creative.

Can’t BC just trade the pick to another team for next year’s draft?

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
