Dude basically cut-out the therapist who worked with him for 9 years, helped to get him back on track after the Sixers medical staff/training let him down early in his career.

Then she has 2 kids and needs to cut back and he pretty much just ghosted her.

Yeah that portion was brutal and it made me feel bad for her but also Embiid. He clearly struggles to maintain healthy relationships & it’s a huge impediment to his own happiness & success.

Unfortunately, it seems like he’s only entrench further into his emotional bunker & it’ll be a rollercoaster for all involved this year. I think Embiid can play again at a pretty high level but I’m expecting a Kawhi-Spurs style ending for Embiid & the Sixers.

Preparing for the end. I think Joel will give it a go this year and when it goes south he'll think long and hard about retirement. (Probably medical retirement so he get's all the money.) It's a LOT to put your body through when your probably ambivalent about the whole thing and probably only doing it cause you don't want to let other folks down.

Barkley was convinced that Joel would have become the best player in the Sixers history if he was given the right guidance and coaching at the beginning.

I firmly believe this as well. The comparisons to Duncan are ridiculous just looking at how both players grew up and were brought along in the game. Duncan went from an exellent Wake Forest program to the best organization the sport has ever seen, and was able to grow as a pro next to David Robinson and coached by Pop. He was surrounded by excellent, deep rosters and the best coach in the game his entire career.

Compare that to Embiid's upbringing, starting the game at age 16, and not having a clue how good he was even up to the draft, and then spending his first two seasons hurt and his entire career with a schiitshow of an organization, rosters constantly in flux and always a couple of players short, and clown show coaching. Any surprise he's not and never will be Tim Duncan?

There's no doubt that he shares a lot of the blame. I just can't help but believe if he had been drafted into a solid organization with great coaching and leaders on the roster to set an example for him instead of being thrust into a role as a leader he was completely unequipped to deal with, things might have been far different. Or maybe not. We'll never know, but his career is one of the all time "what if"s.

While I never had any doubt this organization isn’t well run…some personal accountability from Jo would still be nice. There was 100% mismanagement along the way that Jo has a right to gripe about (preferably privately), but there’s also no doubt Jo could have handled things better and been more professional along the way.
