Andrew Wiggins sucks.

He and Lavine are destroying any chance they have in being defensively competent.

Both of them are on the court 36 and 37 minutes respectively. Impossible to win with that.

They have a much better point differential, but they make the Sixers look like a bunch of veterans when it comes to not blowing leads in the 4th quarter.

I was never a big Wiggins fan, and thankful that Embiid broke his foot so he fell to us. But with all that young talent shouldnt they be a little bit better?

Maybe a little bit, but let's not forget that they are super young, and young teams usually don't win a lot of games.

They are in great shape for the future, but they just haven't broken though.

The highest 1 week Elo gain for the past week in 538's projections belongs to the Sixers! Lakers with the greatest drop.

http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2017-nba-predictions/?ex_cid=rrpromo

We're also projected to finish 25-57 (4 wins ahead of the Nets). Basketballreference's SRS has us above the Nets as well and not far behind the Suns.

If that's the way the season pans out, I'd take that. Philly with no worse than the fifth pick and Lakers sitting at #4 if they don't move up in the lottery. The only thing that bothers me is the Nets with the best odds of getting the #1 pick because that means Boston gets a good player. But given Boston's difficulties this year, I'm not even a #1 pick will elevate them to contenders.

Who cares what happens to Boston. Long term, Boston is still behind us in terms of star level talent. If we just worry about ourselves, and keep going in the same direction, we will pass them in a couple of years.

I wonder if after the game in Detroit if T.J get's another start tonight. No place to really hide Sergio tonight, unless you put him on like Carroll.

Embiid and Saric still 1 and 2 in the ROY race.

Was trying to look at stuff for something kind of unrelated and came up with this breakdown:

Right now Philly has

Taking on bad contract returns:
Sac unprotected '19 1st
Swap rights with Sac '17 if Sac is 1-10
Existing player rights to Nik Satuaskas
{For Landy, Thompson, and Stauskas}

Draft rights to Furkan Korkmaz (taken 26th in '16 draft) {For taking on McGee}

'17 2nd rounders - best and worst of Det/GS/NYK/Utah {For taking on Pleiss}
'18 2nd rounder -- best of Cle and Brk {For taking on Bogans (who was fully unguaranteed) and then Jorge Gutierrez and Andrei Kirilenko}
2018 2nd rounder (best of NYK and LAC) {For taking on BJ Mullens and then Travis Outlaw}
2019 2nd rounder NYK {That same Outlaw deal above}
2020 2nd rounder Brooklyn {Same AK deal}
1.8m Cash just this season (more in years past) {For taking on Kaun}

Tanking returns:
Embiid
Okafor
Simmons
Holmes (via KJ McDaniels)

Trading Vets:
Nerlens Noel {Jrue}
Saric {Jrue}
OKC '20 1st (Top 20 protected 1 shot) {Hawes ->Jerami Grant -> pick. Yes, Hawes turned into a 1st}
Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot {Thad}

Squeezing Orlando at draft time (no idea where this category should fairly go except here):
NYK 2020 2nd (From Willy Hermangomez)
NYK 2021 2nd (From Willy Hermangomez)
Philly protected '17/'18 1st returned

Free agency:
Bayless
Henderson
Sergio Rodriguez
Hollis Thompson
Robert Covington
T.J. McConnell

I don't understand why there is so much animosity or focus between the two fan bases, the teams are in two total different places at the moment. I'm not sure what star level talent is defined as either, Philly has two players with very high ceilings, one who looks like a top five center in the league already and another who hasn't played a game yet. On the other side Boston has two players that were all stars last season, people can knock Thomas for his height all they want but he's still putting up 26/6 a game. I don't think anyone can predict what either will look like in three years, but until both are fighting it out with Cleveland there really shouldn't be any consideration of the other. Fans should be hopeful for for future competition.

So, I finally unearthed the few jerseys I had left of 100+ I had a decade ago. Guess who's this?
