Knee jerk reaction is the TWolves won.

With all due respect... You're crazy.
Julius Randall is and has been, since he was at Kentucky, one of the biggest wastes of time in Basketball. The Knicks would win if they got nothing back, let alone Karl Towns.

You're looking at it from the perspective of Randle. KAT is soft, injury prone, and gets cooked by Embiid. 3 very bad things on a Thibs run team. He's also on the hook for a massive contract lasting 4 more years.

Randle's contract is shorter, easier to move, and his output has been roughly similar to KAT in recent years. So they traded Donte and a Pistons first for positional fit. I understand trade landscape is what it is and I'm sure the Knicks love KAT for a variety of reasons along with fit, but it feels like they overpaid.

KAT no more "soft" than Porzingis, and the Celtics managed to win 65 games with him at Center. Kat allows the Knicks to spam 3's from every position, just like the Celtics. The Knicks got rid of a bad defense, ball-stoping PF, who was a bad fit with O.G., and replaced him a bigger, superior shooting Center that fits perfectly with a team with a ball dominant PG.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

I’m torn on the Knicks portion of the trade. Obviously, Towns makes their offense much better and I think Towns is an underrated defender. Their identity as a tough, physical team is over tho. Historically, Embiid has dominated Towns but I’m not thrilled at the idea of Embiid guarding a stretch 5 for a whole series.

I doubt Embiid is gonna guard Towns, they're probably put PG, Martin or even Oubre on him and let Embiid on the paint or with OG.

I would still let Hart open, yeah he shot like 80% against us, but he's still a below average shoter, so you just play the %s

Is Thibs really gonna play towns at the 5? He played him at the 4 with like Dieng or Taj Gibson in Minny. Maybe for stretches but I think they're gonna start Precious or Sims and then eventually Robinson assuming there isn't another trade.

The way I see the Knicks trade is potentially they will be a little worse then they would have been in the regular season but better in the play-offs. Im not a huge Randal fan but he has been about as good as KAT during the regular season the last few years but Randal is awful in the playoffs. People keep sleeping on the fact Divencenzo set a Knick record for threes last season. I know thats a bit simplistic but KAT is not a super star lets stop talking about him like one. And he is not particulary good on defense. If Jalen Brunson slips a little, and while I think he is a great player Im not convinced he'll be quite as good again, the Sixers are better if Embiid and George stay failry healthy. Imo the Sixers still have three of the best four players on the two teams with Embiid being the best of all of them by a mile. Yes, Paul George is better then Towns.

Bottom line; right, wrong, or indifferent: If Embiid and George get over the choker label, then the Sixers are better than the Knicks and can compete with Boston.

If they don't, it's going to be a long 4 years.

Anyone wants to discuss how bad the Knicks bench is right now?

Hart/Bridges
Anunoby/Achiuwa
Towns/Robinson

Everyone can shoot and defend to various degrees. I understand Joel owns KAT, but them having KAT closes the gap a ton there. That in conjunction with them being vastly superior 2-4 means they’ll be a problem.

Morey has to really hit on the next move to keep up.

Knicks improve, but didn’t win the trade. Marginal gains.

IMO if league execs truly believe that, then the primary reason they think it is because of the finances.

Remains to be seen, but that was my first reaction as well, and only partly due to finances. I might be proven wrong, but to me the Knicks pushed all their chips to the center of the table putting together a group that just doesn't look like a championship team.

If they get a DEN 24 lineup of playoff opponents in front of them, and Thibs somehow avoids grinding his players bones to make bread... I absolutely believe the Knicks are talented enough to win a title.

The Gobert, Reid, and McDaniels lenghty trio presents a versatile mix of two way skills for the Timberwolves. Each player brings different strengths, with Gobert anchoring the defense, Reid offering offensive versatility, and McDaniels showing promise as a two way wing. Adding Randle’s shot creation would help the Wolves’ offense, especially with his ability to exploit mismatches and create his own shot.

I was impressed by the dynamic between Dario Saric and Russell Westbrook off the bench for the Nuggets. Their chemistry is reminiscent of the CP3-Saric pairing with the Warriors last season, by drive and kick plays and smooth passing.

Dalton Knecht for me is the rookie from this draft class who either brings a lot of pain if he excels or schadenfreude if he struggles.
