The Wall thing is tough. His upside is higher than Tobias (who is pretty much a net zero - hope he proves me wrong) but his contract is significantly higher, giving Morey less maneuverability for the next three years. At the same time, the deal ends a year earlier.

I wouldn't want to be the one having to make that decision.

Going forward we should be able to put Tobias in a position to play his game and be the borderline all star he can be, hope teams that can’t get Giannis next summer have huge cap spots to fill and see a guy being overpaid, but productive. healthy and in his prime, plus a good locker room and community guy.

I’m old enough to see John Wall as what he is, Jeff Ruland 2.0 as traded to Philly go, only worse. If Wall was on a two year deal maybe I take that chance, but he has played barely at all for three seasons now. We just don’t need to take that risk.

I am fine with Tobias at the 4. He creates some mismatches there and allows you to have two shooters on the floor with Ben and Jojo. Appreciate the salary is difficult to swallow, but on the court I dont think a Ben/Shooter/Shooter/Tobias/Jojo lineup is any worse than lineups the other top teams would put on the floor.

Wall(30)/Milton(18)
Curry(28)/Thybulle(10)/Milton(10)
Green(24)/MLE(10)/Thybulle(14)
Simmons(34)/MLE(14)
Embiid(30)/Howard(18)

Wall/Milton/Maxey
Curry/Korkmaz/Joe
Green/Thybulle/Smith
Simmons/MLE
Embiid/Howard/Reed

Stagger Simmons and Wall as much as possible.

No. John Wall is a nuclear bomb level bad contract, way too much downside risk and the upside is one more injury away from completely disappearing.

I agree, he has more downside. On the flip side, his ceiling is the perimeter half-court playmaker we've been looking for. We know what Tobias's ceiling is already after his putrid series against the Celtics when he was asked to do too much.

Suffering the worst injury in sports aside, Wall was never a really good half court playmaker. He was kind of similar to Simmons in that he was elite in transition but struggled (less so than Ben but still struggled to some extent) when you slowed him down to the half court.

And again, he suffered the worst injury in sports. People talk about upside and downside like they have equal chances of happening but we're talking like 90+% downside potential for him. Like think about what Brand looked like when he was here and then put that injury on a guy whose whole game was built on speed and athleticism.

Those kinds of lineups have performed very well in the past. Be patient and don’t play the lottery with Wall, at bad odds and not a great fit, let desperate teams do that.

I wonder if Morey explained to Brand how and why the moves last summer were so bad as he dismantled them one by one on draft night.

Noel is still out there, any chance he comes for the vet min?

Does it make sense to add Noel after we have signed D12?

So when Embiid is not sitting out a game, one of Noel or D12 will not play?

I feel like if were signing Noel, we would sign someone cheaper with less ego than D12.

This is why the D12 signing was “meh” for most of the fans.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

DJ Augustine gone to Bucks. FVV resigns with Tampa, not that we had a chance.

Our PG options are getting slim. Jeff Teague's RPM last season makes him look completely washed so perhaps not a good option.

Makes zero sense for Noel to come here to possibly be 3rd string. He's got to be able to find a starting or backup gig somewhere.

I'd take Teague with Galloway as a contingency plan.

Big blow to Boston. Hayward walks for nothing! 3 yrs / $120M from Charlotte!

We have a good chance to pass the Celtics this year.

Teague played with Brand for two years and Galloway went to St. Joe's so there are some connections there.

I have a feeling they make a run at Brandon Ingram...

The Neto era in Philly has ended. He signed with the Wiz.

Things are turning in our favor now with Morey magic:

1) Milwaukee - flat
2) Toronto - worse
3) Boston - worse
4) Miami - flat
5) Indiana - flat
6) Brooklyn - better

We have a decent chance to get as high as the 2 seed this year.

Charlotte should trade for Horford. Then they will be called Charlotte Celtics.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
