Obviously his contract is the worst we have but there are other ways to cut down on salary by dropping much worse players who all play a similar role or no role at all. As over-payed as he may be, Brand isn't a black hole of salary like some other players. He still can actually contribute and we don't even know his potential yet post-injury since we had an insane coach last year who hated him.

perfectly said! now enough of this crazy talk
its time for the sixers to stop gettin HOSED!

Whether or not that's pure speculation or not, I would completely give up on this franchise if they made a deal like that. If they are hell bent on moving Brand, they should do it in such a way so as to keep them in the top 4-5 picks. #9 does little to help them and probably only gives this team another role player. At #2, they have a chance for a #1 guy and that's simply not worth unloading Brand for, particularly now that we have a coach that might actually know how to use him.

No thanks. I'll take Turner any day of the week.

I dont mean to spam your boards. But this is being talked about by Chad Ford and the voice of the Utah Jazz who is paid by the Jazz. Its not something that a 10 year old just thought up. Its as close to a rumor is it gets.

 Wrong place to mention Chad Ford.

Why Chad Ford continues to get his name thrown around as some sort of stamp of validity is beyond me. Goddamn you ESPN.

Fans are always pissed at cost cutting moves. This deal doesnt make you guys better. But it puts your overall team in a better financial state. I also do have to say your not going to get much better of an offer for a team to take Brand off your hands. You get a pretty good veteran player who is fun to watch and you still get a lottery pick but just move back 7 spots. This deal is not peanuts.

But these deals never pan out anyways but I just thought it was odd that you all acted insulted at that trade offer. Its all the same to me cause I really dont want see my team stuck with Elton Brand either.

So the Sixers being able to sign a top free agent next summer doesnt interest Philly fans?

Yeah , overpaid other player

I think we are too hard on tatertotsnjuice. He was just trying to see our opinion on a trade rumour that was discussed by Utah's local radio hosts with insider info.

BUT

It will be EPIC FAIL on Stefanski's and the front office's part if we trade the opportunity to draft Evan Turner and Elton Brand for a has-been all-star + # 9 pick...who's to say a guy like Carmelo will come to Philly after his contract is up?

Evan Turner can potentially help revive this roster, so unless Utah offers Deron Williams (which will happen when pigs fly)...this trade rumor won't come into reality.

Give away talent and picks to free up space for a FA in a down FA year? Where have I read this script before?

You have to assume Stefanski has learned from experience.

There is no way this team trades out of at worse a top 5 pick to unload Brand. They have 20M in other contracts coming off the books in 1 year.

Realy Jazz fans are only 50/50 and I thought you had smart fans. ES would be fired before the ink dried on the trade agreement. And around here you get alot of slack when your the Sixers GM so that is really saying how bad this idea is.

Seriously don't come to the board thinking you know what we want. And do not compare your outrage to trading Maynor to the franchise depleting garbage you proposed. No most fans were not pissed about Korver. They understood KK was in Thad Young's way and KK was the only asset we had that could be used to increase cap space.

I'm sure Jazz fans would have loved the idea of them trading the right to Deron Williams(#2) + AK47 for the rights to Thad Young (#12) and CWebb's expiring contract. Because that would have been the same trade.

I'm not sure why people post "radio discussion" threads when its clear that it is a trade that no one in Philly would support.

I'd much rather have Turner (position of need, potential future star, definite starter) as opposed to another losing season and then throwing all of Brand's money right into Melo. Who knows if Melo would even want to play here? And he plays SF, so now we need to trade Iggy or hope he fits next to Melo?? No thanks. I'll keep Turner.

Also, if Chad Ford truly is talking about THIS trade, please post a link.

I still don't see how this classifies as any type of actual rumor. Can't we lock this and call it what it is: a poster's idea of a good trade for their team?

Thread Title: "... Trade Rumor"

First sentence in post: It isn't really a true rumor.

1. Stop with the backseat moderating.

2. The supposed basis for this is from some talk radio guy in Utah. I'll leave this open until we get confirmation from SF76 that this is garbage.

The radio host was most likely speculating after reading Chad Ford's article about the Sixers shopping the pick. And the listener mistook his speculation for him reporting an actual rumor.

That's probably the case.
