Turner for Waiters sounds fine by me.

Man, I really despise Waiters' game but its solid value.

A little more smoke churning:
Evan Turner is thriving in Brett Brown’s motion offense in Philly and his value has never been higher. The Sixers don’t want to pay Turner $10 million per year when he becomes a restricted free agent next summer, so they’re expected to try to move him. The first team they’ll call, if they haven’t already, is the Cavaliers, who have been searching for a small forward since you-know-who took his talents to South Beach. Turner is an Ohio State alum and he’d be an upgrade over some ofyou-know-who’s replacements: Luke Walton, Alonzo Gee, Omri Casspi and Earl Clark.

The Cavs do own all their owns future first round picks, along with one from Memphis, Miami and Sacramento, which can be used to help facilitate a trade and Philadelphia might consider an offer from the Cavs for Turner. There is word from the rumor mill that one young Cavalier might be available, but would the Sixers want him?
...
While Waiters might not have the best chemistry with Kyrie Irving, playing next to former Syracuse teammate Michael Carter-Williams might work. Whatever happens, Waiters' time with Cavs could be over by the deadline in February.

Interesting, thanks for posting that. I would be ok getting Waiters in return for ET. I don't think Hinkie views Turner as a long-term solution. I would want some type of early picks back from the Cavs though. Also, Turner might give Cleveland a home-town discount. Didn't he say something about loving to play back in Cleveland earlier this year?
Edit: I see the Cavs own the Kings pick, anyone have any info on that? lottery protected? top 3 protected? conveyed this year? etc.

That pick is fairly heavily protected, never above top 10.
Traded J.J. Hickson to Kings for Omri Casspi, 2012 first round pick (protected top 14 in 2012, top 13 in 2013, top 12 in 2014, top 10 in 2015-17, else 2017 second round pick (protected 56-60)) (?-?) on 2011-06-30
I mean, I would do it but assume some other people wouldn't.

I would be a little too worried it would be a 2nd rounder in 4 years. I don;t see Sac geting out of bottom 10 for another 2 years easy, so it all comes down to how quick they improve.
I would do it for the Memphis pick or the Cleveland own pick.
2015 first round draft pick from Memphis
Memphis' 1st round pick to Cleveland protected for selections 1-5 and 15-30 in 2015, 1-5 and 15-30 in 2016, 1-5 in 2017 or 1-5 in 2018 or unprotected in 2019 [Cleveland-Memphis, 1/22/2013]

That's a weird protection, so if Memphis has any pick from 6 to 14 the pick goes to the Cavs? Also, it starts in 2015, not this year?
Thinking about it, I would do it for the Memphis pick. I understand the want to get as many picks as possible in this draft but we also have to continue to look forward. I wouldn't mind having 2 picks in 2015.

Re: General 76ers Thread
"Lavoy Allen, down 14 pounds, almost 3 percent body fat; James Anderson down 11 pounds and almost 3 percent body fat; Evan Turner down 9 pounds, almost 2.5 percent; Daniel Orton, 13 pounds in 5 weeks, 3 percent body fat; Jason Richardson, who is not even playing, 11 pounds; Arnett Moultrie is down 5 pounds and he hasn't even played, he's sort of still injured. All those other guys who weren't in rotation - Hollis Thompson, Daniel Orton, Brandon Davies - on a bike, they don't get into rotations and they're on the bike for 20 minutes even if they're not getting their NBA minimum 20 minutes a game," Brown said. "They've invested time and it's helped us a lot.

I like it. I like it a lot.
"With how long the season is, fitness is key, especially with back-to-backs and weeks with four games in five nights," said Turner, who is down to 215 pounds after being as high as 235 last season. "It's key in what you eat and your weight and everything like that is huge. Doug [Collins] definitely preached and spoke about it, but this guy is cutting people if they don't reach the finish [Kwame Brown?]. He really preaches it a lot and it's one of the first things he spoke on when we first talked was fitness and health.

Re: General 76ers Thread
I see similarities with what Browns doing now, and Chip Kelly is doing in football with the eagles.
The whole analytical/sports science thing is catching on In all sports and it's great that we're implementing both heavily.
Brown clearly knows the game, and it's showing early on. He seems to know what it takes to develop a winning culture and program, and The fact that these guys likely aren't even used to his system yet is scary considering how well we have played so far.
It's pretty simple. Our team lacks talent for sure, but if your well coached, in better shape, can run longer and faster than your opponent, in a 48 minute game your gonna give yourself a better chance at winning.
I love the direction were going, and hopefully after added a high level talent or 2 in the draft we can start to really see the upside of this programs future.

Speaking of being in better shape and the team's fitness regiment, nice little article on the subject.

Re: General 76ers Thread
Of course his number deserves to be retired, but the way the Sixers handled this is kinda cheap. Allen Iverson officially retired as a Sixer *THIS SEASON* in the home opener back in October. He was honored and spoke.
That's when his number should have been retired, but this is strictly an attendance grab. A game against the Wizards in March wouldn't get too many fans, but now have it be AI getting his jersey retired and it might be a sell-out.
The home opener this season was against Miami and would have been a sell-out with or without the AI retirement ceremony.

The more Sixers games I watch, the more I'm convinced that Brett Brown is the real deal...awesome move for the Sixers going forward.
