Welcome Nik! Have some legit outside shooters in Covington/Stauskas/Hollis now, things are starting to look good!

Stop it! There is a reason the 8th pick in the lottery rode the bench and got traded. He was a reach. He was not ready and he was overrated. It will take some time for Stauskas to become a quality NBA Player.

I think the Kings called 76ers not 76ers calling for trading down.

We're gonna be pretty fun to watch next year. Keeping up tenacity with shooters sprinkled around another great big man prospect.

I'm wondering on this too.

I think I read a tweet from Tom Moore that it was highly unlikely as the timing of when deal can become official doesn't sync. Can't find the link though :(

On June 30 Hoops Hype Canada tweeted that, according to Stauskas' agent Mark Bartelstein, Stauskas would play for Canada at the Pan Am games (training camp starts July 12). This was before the trade, and when Stauskas was thought to be on Sacramento's summer league roster.

Have you guys heard anything re Stauskas playing at the PanAms?

Nope. But if I'm Philly, I'm encouraging him to (gets him good practice, maybe he makes some friends that he recruits in a few years, and who cares about the injury risk, this is Philly...) So, while that opinion is not actually worth anything, I wouldn't expect the trade to cause a change in his plans.

I'm just envisioning Okafor dribbling out of a double team, like he did so often in college, and passing it to a wide open guy that went 15-15 from NBA three in a practice session highlight I watch this morning.

Next year could be pretty fun.

I'm not excited. It's not like I found out that Sauce Castillo has a Youtube where I watched him drain 102 3pters in 5 minutes and then noticed he has a video called "the process." Never happened.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

I love this trade but can anyone tell me why Stauskas was horrible last year besides the fact he played for the Kings? He is supposed to be a shooter but he didn't shoot well. Shooting is one thing that you should be able to take to the next level. I liked Stauskas last year. I hope he can turn it around but why couldn't he shoot last year?

One of Jordan McRae / Nik Stauskas should develop into a legit frindge starter.

I think there's a lot more to just coming in and hitting shots. Many factors like poor coaching, poor teammates, poor development, lack of confidence as a rookie seeing different roles every night, amongst more.

Not making excuses for the kid, hell he could just flat out stink. But somethings gotta be in the water over there in Sacramento.
They can't be that unlucky in the draft, there simply not good at developing young players. Whether its lack of coaching, teaching or simply putting people in roles that aren't ideal....IDK what it is, but it just seems like outside of Cousins statistically, prospects go there and just fold.

Fit,Coaching,Development and confidence goes a LONG way for some guys.
Its how the Spurs/Hawks turn guys like Danny Green and DeMarre Carroll into 12-15 million a year players.

Agree, really hope McRae makes the 15 man roster. Think he could be a great spark plug off the bench.

He shot 42% from 3 after the all star break when he got more regular minutes. Wasn't a completely lost year.

Outstanding trade. I had a feeling we were going to make a play to buy low on Stauskas, but I didn't expect Hinkie to drop Sacramento's pants like he did.

Okafor/Embiid/Aldemir
Noel/Landry/Thompson/Holmes
Covington/Grant/Tokoto
Stauskas/McRae
Jackson/Canaan

That's 14 guys - I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up stashing Holmes overseas or in Delaware. I'm sure more moves will be forthcoming and the roster will get juggled around, but spots are filling up quickly. Thompson/Ish Smith may end up here as well, but I'm doubtful that we'll see Sampson, Sims, T-Rob back here next season.

I think he will. With the way the roster is setting up.

C - Okafor / Embiid
F - Noel / Thompson / Landry / Aldemir / Holmes
F - Covington / Grant / Sampson
G - Stauskas / McRae / Thompson / Tokoto
G - Wroten / Canaan

16 guys on the roster

- waive Landry
- stash Holmes
- stash Tokoto

Down to 13.

- sign Jackson

Have one more spot to play with.

Hinkie has to bring in a PG. Can't have Jackson or Canaan start.

Pierre Jackson was an elite distributor at Baylor. And a pretty damn good one in the D-League.
