Thanks for posting, that was actually a really cool article.
"We can be like Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire on the pick and roll," McConnell's message read, complete with a video of a patented alley oop from the Seven Seconds Or Less era. "He's always trying to learn something and watching film and then he sends it over to my phone," Noel said, "I like that about him."

I like his optimism, lol.

Amare Stoudemire. Examine his shot chart on nba.com from his rookie year and how he progressed over the next few years in the 15'-19 foot area. Amazing improvement. There's plenty of examples of poor big man shooters becoming respectable or better mid range shooters. I'm confident Noel will as well.

It was indeed. I like the approach that both Noel and TJ are taking to playing together. Noel needs someone to feed him the ball in his spots, TJ needs someone to advocate for him. It's a mutually beneficial relationship. Plus TJ just strikes me like a really heady dude. And concerns over his ability to physically compete in the NBA seem overblown. He's plenty quick enough to push the ball in transition, though he'll obviously never be mistaken for an elite athlete.

I like this kid. I definitely thought he got the better of Delavodova. I particularly enjoyed that play where he kept his dribble and hit Nerlens for an easy back door dunk to get him going. The next play he setup Nerlens to walk into a mid-range jumper which he knocked down with confidence. Shortly after, he stole the ball and hit Nerlens for another dunk. Looks like Nerlens has his new Ish.

Same goes for Jah. He's adept at running the P&R and capable of making the simple entry pass whether he's calling for it on the block or fronting his man.

Even watching him in garbage time, he caught Holmes with a perfect little shuffle pass for a transition 3. After that he started blocking shots, setting harder screens, etc. Aside from Marshall, he's the only guy we have who's capable of creating open looks.

Yeah, I was really impressed with TJ. Makes me glad we didn't shell out a lot of money to Ish Smith, this dude does basically the same thing. Love how he keeps his dribble. Towards the end, the other team finally got that he was only a passer, so they stopped paying to much attention to him on the drive, and then he scored a couple easy baskets.

I think it makes a lot of sense for him and Canaan to switch spots. TJ gets our starters (who ideally can score the ball) a lot of easy shots to get going. Canaan comes in and can score when surrounded by guys who struggle scoring. Seems win win.

Very impressive player already. I like his attitude and scrappy play. Hope he keeps it up!

Ish Smith is making minimum salary... wouldn't have required us to shell out anything.

Now he is making the Minimum, because he was cut by WAS and picked up after camp. If he had come here, he was coming in as the starter. There were rumors posted here several weeks back about him wanting a pretty solid payday.

He's also 27 and is what he is. I think the 76ers are more interested in taking chances on guys and finding out what they have with players like Marshall, McConnell, and Canaan then giving jobs to veterans like Ish or Shved. Even if that means a higher variance of subpar play in the shortterm.

McConnell may actually have a future in the NBA, who would have thunk it?

I don't have a problem with moving on with Ish. I was just starting that he would not have cost much more than our current options.

Time to make McConnell the full-time starting PG and bring Isiah "Can't shoot, no PG skills, zero leadership skills" Canaan off the bench...and that's ONLY if Pressey doesn't perform. If Pressey performs, bury Canaan on the bench; he's awful.

He reminds me of Steve Blake (yes because they're both white). I think he should be the starting PG until we draft one. Then he can be a good player to bring in off the bench. He's definitely been impressive so far.

Anyone know if TJ is on a Hinkie special? Or is it just a one-year deal?

Training camp deal, so no Hinkie Special.
He should have the 1m $ QO next summer.

EDIT: even if according to http://www.basketballinsiders.com/philadelphia-76ers-team-salary/#, he seems to be on an Hinkie Special.
So I'm not sure, sorry.
