Re: Welcome Luwawu
How ready to contribute is he? Can we reasonably expect him to compete for starting spot at SG or SF? What is his best case comparison and worst case comparison?

I wouldn't be comfortable playing him more than 10 mpg next season. Dude needs to work on his dribble (esp left hand) and his bbiq is sus. I like the pick fwiw but he's not a starter this season.

Being that he's a 6'7" athlete that hits threes and generates steals, some of the names that come to mind are:
High End:
Nic Batum
Trevor Ariza
James Posey
Matt Barnes
Thabo Sefolosha
Low End:
Dorell Wright
Francisco Garcia
Corey Brewer
Wesley Johnson
Gerald Green
The logical conclusion you reach after staring at some of these names is that he needs to bulk up and add strength to reach his full potential. Most of the guys on the high end of his potential spectrum are between 215-230 pounds.

Re: Welcome Luwawu
Appreciate the responses. But what about the argument of if he is capable of being a starter on the wing from day 1 or not? I realize it depends on the other moves the Sixers make, but assuming they don't bring in any other SG/SF's, would he be one of the guys on the wing Game 1?

JaKarr Sampson was starting on the wing for us last season.
Id think he could start or at least contribute like KJ did his rookie year from day 1 and go from there.

Gotcha. Thanks. I suppose if he can become a long term 3 and D guy on the wing, then we would have 1 less spot to fill. Hope that works out! He just seems raw to me, but maybe that's because I haven't seen enough of him.

Re: Welcome Luwawu
He's 21 years old, over 200 pounds and played 30 minutes a game in a pretty decent league last year.
I'd say he's one of the more NBA-ready Euros.
You would hope he could acclimate himself quickly enough to compete with Stauskas for the starting SG spot in training camp.

I'm super hyped to watch Luwawu next year. Just wish he could keep the bubblegum uni's
The guy has a tremendously high ceiling, as high as anyone outside the top 2 pick. I doubt he hits that star level ceiling, but the great thing is that, as a two way prospect, he can help you regardless of outcome. In this regard, he is similar to Ingram- he is the type of wing who will be a great fit on any team regardless of how close he comes to reaching his ceiling.
Along the same lines, he could be good from day 1, even though he is years away from reaching his peak. Much like other elite athletes like Iggy and PG3 were able to step in right away using their athleticism to be dynamic rotational guys as rookies while evolving over a few years into more complete players. And being on the floor with Simmons and a PG will free Luwawu up to be able to play to his current strengths. Then hopefully he can grow into more of a total package in a few years.
Basically, being 6'7, hyper-explosive, quick and having a decent outside shot means that you can be productive from day 1 and learn the game on the fly. I think he is more raw, but has a ceiling as good or better than guys like Stanley Johnson and Justice Winslow. He was an absolute steal at #24, even if he never adds much more to his game than polishing his shooting stroke.
I see Luwawa as the wing equivalent to when OKC picked Ibaka at #24. A good pick if he only minimally progresses... and a great pick if he really grows into a polished NBA player. He should not have been available at #24. He should have gone in the lottery.

I have a feeling this guy could be standout 2G in the NBA. Obviously, he's not there yet, but he has all the tools to become a top 5 NBA 2G.

He does, but he is also a bit sloppy out there. So he could end up anywhere from Rodney Carney level to fringe All-Star.

More explosive Thabo Sefolosha, maybe? I mean the floor.

Dunn is ok. Next years draft is loaded with way better point guard prospects. We did great in the draft. luwawu reminds me of iman sumpert type player. Very useful rotational wing.

Maybe pre-injury shumpert but this shumpert is terrible.
Shumpert in his rookie season was a pest on defense, right now he isn't very good.
Luwawu is awesome.. I also like Korkmaz but what are you gonna do when Noel is RFA?
you have to showcase one of the bigs and that's gonna hurt the value of the other big cause they can't effecively play together :/
Obviously Noel is better at C than as a PF and so is Okafor, you guys gotta think of something creative!

Every time he takes an ill-advised three, can we tell him to "don't go chasing waterfalls?"

Re: Welcome Luwawu
Great pick, awesome draft for us, we just need a good point guard for this season
