I saw him play in person in LA. He looked terrible. But, Asik looked worse.

The pick is going to be between 14-20. Basically what Hinkie got for Thad Young. Not to mention they have to absorb a bad contract. I mean, BC wasn't negotiating from a position of strength but this is not a good return for Okafor.

Now with 6 picks in the next 3 drafts, it's time to consolidate assets.

Do it Bryan!

Jah is going to go there and turn the pick into a lottery pick.

The pick will be lottery protected for sure.

If we eat Ajinca, I'd be ok with lottery protected 2017, as long as the protection goes down over time and ends unprotected. Say, top 10 protected 2018, top 5 protected 2019, unprotected 2020.

I'd be ok with that I suppose, but if it is lottery protected and then becomes second rounders I'm going to be really pissed.

It can be lottery protected this year, but it has to have upside to be worth it, and that upside means banking on the Pels not getting good in the next few years.

I think that the protections that you mentioned are reasonable although I would still be pretty dissapointed in them.

I mean honestly, what do you guys expect for Okafor?

It was a bad pick forced on Hinkie by ownership, we're lucky to get any value for him whatsoever.

I'd prefer if it would be hard protected this year in exchange for lesser protection next year. This way the draft picks would be spread in a way that there wouldn't be overwhelming amount of newcomers this year (which would also mean the overwhelming amount of extensions at the same time).

I would do just about anything for Okafor. The ultimate bum. I wish we could land Langston, though.

Thad got a pick that turned out to be 24 in two drafts after the trade.

Why this obnoxious post? Who are you referring to? Anyone that wants a good pick out of this deal and wouldn't be happy with a bad one?

Not on board with Anjica and Lotto protected first. I would just hold onto him then.

Hope the trade goes through. Real good landing spot for him. Could be a chance to mildly effective player. He will still be bad unless he increases his motor and desire to be good but in terms of pieces around him a real good fit.

Been calling something similar for weeks now in the trade thread, almost spot on so im feelin myself a bit (jk). Dont mind protections on the pick as long as its something reasonable. Ajinca i think is a serviceable big.

Now if it was for asik which was the trade i was proposing, NOP would have tobseriously limit the protection on the pick to say top 3 and let the chips fall where they may.

This. It is a pointless trade. Okafor has more upside than people think -- and that is coming from someone who thinks he is terrible (right now). He is coming back from a knee injury.

Agree that it could be a good landing spot for him. Puts him next to a superstar athletic 4 that can protect the rim.
