I hope Brett Brown knows not to play Amir at PF. Or Holmes, or Okafor, or Embiid.

yeah, one thing that does scare me is if he gets major minutes at the 4

Please now get rid of Oak.

We're getting legitimate above replacement guys on 1 year deals. This is incredible. The playoffs are not a longshot.

Simmons/Saric should get all the minutes defending the 4 and Embiid/Holmes should get all the minutes defending the 5. He's an advanced stats crusher and deserving of minutes so I don't just see him being the fifth big that's out of the rotation. Okafor almost certainly gone now too.

With the way we have operated in the past with caution,Think people may be underestimating the chances Embiid still remains on a minutes/Back2Back restriction for at least a little while. Same with Ben.

Hopefully he doesn't take away from developing Saric/Simmons/Holmes etc but I guess having a veteran capable of producing isn't the worst. We need the depth until guys can prove they can't stay healthy. Shrug

That jumped out to me. Looked and saw he was literally a positive vorp every single year. That's impressive.

Big Amir fan from his Raptors days. Individual stats don't pop out, but the guy is total team guy and team always does better with him on the floor.

Last season he was 5th among PF in RPM (behind Green, Love, Millsap, Davis). Also top 10 in win share. When he plays he is effective team guy. The problem is with his injuries you can't rely him for 30+ min every night. The good news for 76ers is they have young bigs, and having him as option should push them to play better instead of gifted minutes.

Wonder if Okafor goes now.

He may get cut. Not even kidding. He probably won't because of where he was drafted but he has close to zero value.

Puts pressure on the Celtics. Still no front court.

Surprising move by BC. This pretty much cements Okafor's fate (I hope).

An advanced version of Holmes in many ways. He and Holmes can fill 48 minutes when Embiid doesn't play and do what BB wants done in terms of defense and pace. Holmes can learn from Amir like Korkmaz can from JJ.

After the PG trade, we're probably 60%+ to playoff (we were -125 pre-trade). Possibly a bit higher after these signings.

His RPM finishes among PFs:

2016-17: 5th
2015-16: 5th
2014-15: 17th
2013-14: 7th

The guy is very underrated and good at what he does.

Only downside of this signing is it takes minutes away from Holmes. Other than that I love it.

I could see us anywhere from 4-6 if we stay healthy. Closer to 4 if Lowry leaves TOR.

Fultz/Bayless/TJ
Redick/Stauskas/Korkmaz
Covington/TLC/Anderson
Simmons/Saric/Holmes
Embiid/Johnson/Okafor

Man, what a lineup. So excited for this team.

Nice move Philly! Amir is an amazing Vet for the locker room and will definitely help your youngsters... Rather than look at him taking minutes at PF, he is more likely to play small-ball Center and be insurance as you continue to bring Embiid along slowly (health wise)... Does a lot of the dirty work, amazing pick-setter, and is all heart (Philly type of player) However, his ankles are shot and just isn't able to move like he used to. Still, great move!

Thinking the Sixers will decline Jah's fourth year option. Whether they cut him or not is another story.

Woj said on The Jump that the Sixers and Celtics were talking sign and trade Okafor for Amir, but Sixers decided to just sign him outright.

I assume the sixers would have just unloaded the salary in the Celtics. Nothing else really involved.
