I’ve never seen either play more than a few min. Are you going with best fit? Or do you think Shai is the better prospect?

Shai is a pretty good fit, but Carter would be a little too talented to pass up.

Shai could take a while to develop in the NBA with how thin he is, Carter could help us immediately.

I went Carter in this particular mock.

I'd say they are similar level of prospect, so I went with fit and what (I believe) Colangelo would do when presented with both options.

WCJ easy, a quality c to back up embiid but can also play at the 4.

I would love to see a poll with just Carter and SGA.

I like them both, doesn't matter to me but it would settle it. I go Carter cause we need a big out of this draft and there is none that will probably be around at 26 worth anything but there will be plenty of wings there worth a look. He already has NBA size and length, none of that 'he has to gain weight' stuff, he's already there. Course I expect him to be gone on draft day, but it also matters who we would trade out of Saric or Fultz as to if its Carter or SGA.

Totally agree a really good backup center.
No way he falls this far though.
Johnson and Holmes would both be history.

He could play some 4 as well.
I'd start him there and then back up Embiid at the 5 with Saric as the 6th Man at the 4.

I'm going with Shai here. We need a guy who can create and defend guards & swings. Shai has that slow & smooth Andre Miller-like strut to his game.

This poll reinforces my belief that we really need to trade this pick in a package for a star. None of the possibilities at 10 excite me all that much. Of the choices given, SGA or Carter.

I think BC will trade the pick, but I will go with anything Negrodamus suggests. Haven't watched much college ball this year, and he knows his stuff.

Haven't decided who I like better between Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Troy Brown.

Interesting you think that highly of Brown. Admittedly I watched maybe 3 Oregon games this year, but he was just terrible each time I saw him. Really struggled and looked overmatched @UCLA as I recall. I’ll have to give him another look...

I really liked the way SGA became the guy for Kentucky as the year went on, but I do wonder if I’m overvaluing him due to my Fultz concerns.

If the board falls this way, Wendell Carter Jr. is the BPA for sure. He's the pick.

I like Brown more for his tools than what he actually did. He has size, he can go right or left off the dribble and he has body control. He also has more burst than SGA. He just can't shoot the 3 yet. He's a project.

I like the idea of Wendell Carter to back up Embiid and at times fill in for Dario. Amir isn't the answer at C and Holmes has a suite in BB's doghouse. Yes they need a wing but I prefer to get that in FA.

Ops, forgot to have the poll close after 24 hours.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander it is, thanks all.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Me too. This is quickly becoming my preferred outcome. I think there are minutes available for him right away.

I'm surprised to see Wendell Carter running away with the #2 preference.

I still would take Collin Sexton ahead of him, despite Collin's flaws.

If we draft Carter you might as well put Okafor on the back of his jersey because that is exactly who Brett will treat him like.
If Carter can't shoot the 3 he won't play in Brett's scheme. He doesn't value guys with low post games. He wants to space and pace and Carter doesn't really give you any of that. If Ersan comes back you can really forget about it. Carter would just be another wasted lottery pick.

He has three point range though.
