JJ, Shamet to start. Jimmy is plenty capable from distance himself.

Guess we'll find out! There is the possibility that Butler lights a fire underneath our non-shooting blue chip draft picks.

Wow. We have our Iso scorer! Let's go!!! Going to miss Cov and I still think Saric is going to be a really good player. But butler is still in his prime, can create his own shot and defend. Great job EB!

First of all, this is **** huge. This organization hasn't been involved on this side of a deal like this for the time I've been following the team.

Second, I get it. I think the Wolves made out great here, using our slow start as leverage to get Covington and Dario for a guy who didn't want to be there. Glad we didn't have to spend any significant picks, Zhaire or Shamet to get a deal done. I will seriously miss Covington, who is really good at basketball and made a lot of good things happen for us. Will miss Dario, for obvious reasons, but I was scared about paying him after his rookie deal. There are legit questions about his upside.

Third, Markelle and Butler... Uh oh.

Cs fan in Philly. Nice move. As the years pass, I regret not buying dirt cheap season tickets years ago more and more.

Fultz almost certainly has to move to the bench in this scenario. We can't possibly start Ben-Fultz-Jimmy.

Simmons(24)/Fultz(24)
Shamet(20)/Redick(28)
Butler(32)/Chandler(14)/Shamet(8)
Muscala(24)/Simmons(14)/Chandler(10)
Embiid(32)/Amir(16)

We are sorely lacking depth at the 3-4 though. I wonder if we can do some sort of follow-up trade or signing this season to replace Saric, especially since Muscala is out.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have traded All-Star wing Jimmy Butler and center Justin Patton to the Philadelphia 76ers for a package including forward Dario Saric, wing Robert Covington, guard Jerryd Bayless, and a 2022 second-round pick, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania and Jon Krawcynzki.

We freed up a roster spot also.

Depth at PF position is a concern now. Hopefully they won't start Simmons there with Fultz at PG. But surely they won't

how are you guys not jumping for joy!!!

we just traded 2 roll players, one of which has been awful this year except the last 2 games, and is a sieve on defense.. a 2nd round pick and our injured expiring guard who never plays... FOR BUTLER

AND HE IS GOING TO RESIGN LONG TERM!

this is as good of a deal as you can get, this is literally a dream trade, he IS SIGNING LONG TERM

simmons, butler, embiid on the same defense is guaranteed best defense in the league now, by a MILE

we now own the east for the next 5 years.. the fultz expirement is gone.. JJ starts at the 2 and chandler starts alongside butler as the 3 or 4

Great deal. Now let’s go get 1 more piece. Trade Bayless and a pick or 2 to bring in another shooter

Edit: just realized Bayless had to be in this too. Still, gotta figure out how to get another shooter

I will say this, Butler is going to get an increase in his PPG. At any time he'll be playing with pass first ball handlers in Fultz and Ben. Other than Embiid and JJ, there are no volume scorers on this team. Shamet is being groomed to become that way, but he's not there yet. Butler is going to shoot a lot.

how is PF a concern?

chandler, butler, muscala, and simmons can all easily play PF.. plus bolden

that is 5 players that can play PF

I like this deal.

Roco is too inconsistent as a shooter and is not a very good individual defensive player to be part of a finals team. He is good for 82 regular season games.

Dario is unplayable in the playoffs with his type of defense. His offense is underrated but he has this horrible stretches.

You pay premium for talent players like Butler. Im not much of a fan of Butler but I’ll take it.

I’m not concerned about his attitude at all. He is a hard nosed winner that doesn’t suffer fools. KAT and Wiggins were a bad mix. Simmons and Embiid are perfect.

Fultz is a young guy that is the 4th best player on the team. Butler doesn’t have to rely on his for the culture like he had to rely on sleepy guys like KAT and Wiggins.

Sorry to lose Covington and Saric. Both good players that I loved, but Butler makes us a contender, and we still have salary space in the offseason to find role players, and resign JJ, and still give Jimmy the Max.

Love this deal.

Butler is gonna make Ben better. Ben is gonna make Butler better. They are good compliment to one another just as how Saric compliments Ben when Saric plays well.

I expect Ben and Butler to be paired and JJ-Biid to be paired.

Butler will lessen all the pressure with Fultz. That is also big.
