I don't think we should kill the messenger. He's just reporting what Gobert's teammates are telling him. I'm sure they're rightfully pissed and hopefully it serves as a lesson for people to keep their hands to themselves.

I think everyone can take an important message away from this: don't treat a possibly very terrifying situation as flippantly as Gobert did.

I have a group of friends in high levels of the society. Theyve been saying that its going to get crazy in 2020, that i need to save up and buy assets this year.

Anyway, i dont know about the dow jones but in my country’s stock exchange index the chart has been showing signs of crashing in 2020. After our stocks dropped 6% the other day, which was already the second biggest drop in history. It dropped 10% today.

You guys know im mr tin foil hat.

So your Friends advised you to buy into a dropping market?

The Dow: We have gone from a historic 11 year bull run down into bear territory in about 2 weeks thanks to people concerns about the virus.

Real estate and other luxury items.

I just bought a benz yesterday since the local dealership gave a large discount for this month due to weak sales since january. Stocks, ive been burned badly 5 years ago so i stay away from that. Its not for an overthinker who likes to find pattern and meaning on everything like me.

Now im looking at real estate.

You know the thing with real estate is what kind? I get to travel around the country quite a bit. And everywhere I go strip malls are dying a slow and painful death. Due to a large part on the availability of shopping online and fast delivery. If it happens here it can happen anywhere.

I'm currently living in China, a city (not Wuhan) that has been pretty shut down for over a month, which, while extreme, has lead to no cases, and life slowly returning to normal. While I don't recommend this for the US as living conditions (and people's world view / behaviors) are very different. I think it would be foolish to not make some major changes (ie no huge gatherings and very strict measures on retirement communities).

I was about to ask your situation there.

Sorry man, but this is overly simplistic. You can sleep and eat right all you want, but that won’t make anyone resistant to coronavirus.

Looks like the season isn't going to be shortened at all. This is merely a postponement, and they're going to play the whole season out and drag the playoffs into August. This will affect everything from the NBA Draft to the Olympics. It will shorten the off season to a few weeks.

If they do this it will lead to more injuries than ever before. The body needs time to rest. You can't just keep pushing it and pushing it and expecting it to perform at the highest level. Load management will take on a whole new meaning if this happens.

No doubt. The teams that go deep in the playoffs will essentially be going from there right into training camp is less than a month. Not a whole lot of time for off season moves to be made, the draft and free agency will have to happen as soon as the playoffs end.

Smart thing to do would be to shorten the season, but giving up a dime of revenue is generally a non-starter for pro sports leagues.

I know one thing: there were a lot of people in high levels of the society that never saw the 2008 crash coming

After the crash, yes, then they all saw it coming ...

Please ... beware of people that tend to predict the future, no matter on which 'level of the society'

I'd go with pushing this season back and playing the playoffs then having the 2020-2021 season start later and be played for only 60 games or so.

The season being suspended couldn't have come at a better time for the Sixers relating to Ben Simmons. It means when the season finally resumes in August that he will be back and would barely have missed any games and we will be at full strength.

Bunch of people around the league have been pushing to start the season in December for years now to limit directly competing with football, guessing they use this as an opportunity.

What do you mean?

Human beings are not meant to be disease resistant or immune. Wolverine and Deadpool are not real.

You catch the flu, and two days later you're fine.

Unless you're over 60 or have a compromised immune system.

You’re talking about a young healthy individual. The elderly, children, and inmunocompromised represent a huge portion of our population and are at risk of dying from it. That’s why it’s important to protect yourself even if you think you can tolerate being sick for a few days/week.

Kind of related. The NFL owners must be thanking their football gods. Imagine if this had happened at or near superbowl time. A complete disaster for the NFL. They only have one game to crown their champion.

At most those under the age of 2, over the age of 70, or immunocompromised make up 25%.

It's important to practice good hygiene and preventive measures. It's not so good to cower in fear and close the world down.

Is a quarter of the world’s population insignificant to you? Not to mention the portion of completely healthy individuals dying from it.

I understand some people are going overboard with the hoarding of food and medical supplies, but COVID is totally unprecedented and warrants legit concern and action from governments and citizens.

Just sort of wild that someone can flippantly throw out a number like 25% of the population being seriously at risk like it's nothing lol.
