Re: The curious case of Thybulle
I have a feeling we will be in the playoffs again this year lamenting both Thybulle/Reeds lack of time in the season as our Band-Aids (House / Harrell) end up playoff busts.

He's gonna mature/age well as a 3 and D guy . He's gonna be very valuable on next contract. I think the right thing to do would be to sell high on Maxey and Tobias. No way in hell Maxey should get a max deal .

What?!? The right thing to do is keep Maxey, Thybulle and Reed with Embiid. Try to add a young star if possible after Harden and Tobias are gone

I was looking for a Nurkic trade and saw Dame’s contract. The guy is gonna paid like 48-50M per year at near age 40.
Contracts matter but it isnt as valuable as fans think they are. A lot of these contracts are undisclosed or done under the table, look at how we were able to make Harden take a paycut.
Nevertheless, I agree. We should sell high on Maxey and Tobi. But you also have to factor in chemistry. You dont do these type of deals in the middle of the season. Specially when our top players at their prime or post their prime.

Personally, i dont want to have Maxey as part of the team after this 2-3 year championship run.
For now, I think he can play a big role that is needed for us to make it deep in the playofds.
While im leaning towards 80-90% on trading Tobi next season.

Thybulle shooting better % from 3 than our beloved Robert Covington.
Yes, it’s half the volume but it does not justify’s Roco 28% 3pt%

Re: The curious case of Thybulle
What means selling high on Tobias?
Guy is untradable on that contract until at least next year, i don't get why people keep doing the "is easy to trade Tobias" stuff after 4 years.
If you want to sell High on Maxey and use Tobias as filler to get a max guy, tell me what max contract guy is on the trade that could help here now. Lavine, Beal?
Sorry but those are worse options than keeping Maxey.
No team is gonna give up several guys for Maxey, only so we could get rid of Tobias too

Covington has a long track record of being an above average, high volume 3 point shooter, who tends to take the majority of those shots above the break rather than in the corners.
Apples to oranges in terms of their shooting, and it's impact on the offense.

I strongly disagree on Maxey long-term. At some point, Harden will leave and we’ll hand over lead guard duties to him and his defensive issues will become less difficult to manage. Sure, it’d be great if we don’t have to sign him to the max but his efficiency & work ethic make him a strong bet moving forward.
I think Maxey spoiled us with his leap last year. This year he made incremental improvements and everyone’s scared he’s hit his ceiling.

Re: The curious case of Thybulle
Btw, if you order players who take at least 6 3s per game and average at least 40%, Maxey comes in 12th place and this is his third year in the league.
He's also 44th in volume
That's really elite shooting in a rookie contract without even mentioning his other abilities.
Give me a real **** bag if we're gonna trade him, not this "Let's use Maxey to get rid of the Tobias contract" stuff.

Yeah, and i have my fair share of bad opinions and also some really good ones.
I’ve learned from my mistake. I also saw where Sixers had their mistakes. And I’ve been watching more non-Sixers games than Sixers games.
If im rebuilding, I’m gonna build around my 1-2 position. I’ll have a high standards with guards if im gonna start this team from scratch.
Maxey is good if you have Harden and Embiid. But if you are gonna start a team from scratch, I’ll want someone who’s more deserving to be paid the max as a starting piece.
I also think Boston or Raps should do the same with Jaylen Brown or FVV if both teams are looking to rebuild.
5 years down the road, I can’t see and ESPN marquee match-up of Tyrese Maxey vs Luka Doncic. It’s more likely going to be someone like Scoot Henderson or Ja Morant.
Dont get me wrong, im not saying im just gonna waive him. Im gonna treat him like how Spurs did Dejounte Murray by pumping and dumping him for atleast a couple of picks.

I guess the disconnect is that you seem to think Embiid is simply gonna be cooked after this window with Harden.
I think when that time comes you look to re-tool around Embiid and Maxey to create another window.

My confusion comes from the idea that you must trade a very good player if he’s not going to become great. It’s not like we have some simple lever we can pull to turn Maxey into a legit cornerstone, so I don’t get it unless he’s saying that we must do a full strip down after this season and rebuild from scratch. Which is not a convincing premise.
Can’t tell if it’s just this usual realgm thing where people turn ‘this player isn’t an answer to everything’ into ‘this player is the reason we’re not winning a championship and we must burn him now.’ Or if it’s just assuming that us knowing someone is maybe a little overrated means we can somehow finagle that into something better than that player. Instead of it just meaning that a player is a little overrated.

Wow I see things just don’t change around here, the levels of stupidity just continues year to year. After all the trade embid, trade tobias , trade harden, and now it’s time to trade maxey…….. a 22 year old that’s headed for super stardom. Smh sixers fans never fail me with the laugh’s lol.

I appreciate you trying to come up with scenarios to give him the benefit of doubt on why anybody would trade a 3rd year 22 year old star with the work ethic of Kobe **** Bryant as anything but stupid. Noway no how does it make sense to trade maxey with harden aging as well it totally makes no sense! Do you know how sick sixers front office would be if they traded maxey and had to sit back and watch him fricking dominate the league the next 10 year’s while we trot out lord knows who? Smh

Im not saying trade them now.
I’m saying trade them when its time to trade them.
And in my opinion, after this 2-3 year run for a championship with Biid and Harden, I think we should trade Maxey if we are looking to rebuild or trade him for his upside for someone at his prime.
And I dont see Maxey being a superstar. I think he’s a really good player (borderline star to star) and a good fit with our team right now.
