I'm not sure but from the sample size of watching Springer he seems to have more on -ball ability but is a work in progress as a spot-up shooter. Melton plays like a sf for us except he's 6'1 , his ball handling is pretty anemic for a combo guard. My hope like some others is that Springer will be able to grow into Meltons role and make Melton more expendable so he can be a trade asset for us seeing as we have so few.

I think its time to replace Milton with a legit back up PG or playmaker.

Let's be fair Melton torched Boston game one from 3. He was on fire. Embiid came back and everybody was off .

Melton was a disaster after game 1 vs BOS. Should have been benched to give Shake a chance when we couldn’t score but count on Glenn to never make adjustments when needed.

I’m ready to see him go and let Jaden develop. Just play him big mins and let him figure it out.

Nah Melton is one of our most productive and reliable role players who is still young as well.

I’m ok with trading Melton because he’s one of the few tradeable assets we have. But I wouldn’t do that lightly he’s a great 3&D role player to have around and he’s only 24.

I’d probably pair Maxey/Melton & Harden/Springer in the rotation and stagger those groups in the 2nd/3rd quarters. He deserves some run as a defender & can stay afloat on offense by cutting with Harden on the court.

For those saying he will take Milton's role maybe they''ll try him at it but as up and down as Shake can be he actually had a pretty good regular season. Crazier things could happen but if Jaden Springer could hit 48% from the field and 38% from three I'd be amazed. Every time he gets a few minutes his lack of real guard skills amazes me. To my eye almost all of his value still appears to be on defense.

Wouldn't it make since to pair the smaller guard with the bigger guard. Maxey/Springer and Harden/Melton.

I think Maxey/Melton is a complimentary pair because the deflections & steals Melton generates turns into Maxey fast breaks. They both generally play better in a fast-paced style.

Springer’s strength lends itself to Harden’s plodding, half-court style. Harden can find him as a cutter & Springer can use his strength & athleticism to finish around the rim.

If Harden spends the majority of his time with only one of other guard on the floor (although I kinda expect him to be slotted at forward defensively for Nurse), the answer for who plays with each of those guys when the other is off the floor is gonna be Melton.

^I agree with you. I’m not saying it’ll happen I’m just pitching an idea that’s I think is worth trying. If we start Melton over PJ & slot Harden at the 3 (PG on offense, SF on defense), then I think there’s room for Springer to get 10-15 mins as a guard off the bench.

I see the logic but we'll get destroyed on the boards. To run a 3-guard lineup like this for big mins we need a stud rebounder at PF (cough BBall cough) because Embiid isn't good enough by himself.

I think having better perimeter defenders and guys that can cover more ground would help their bigs be in better position to rebound the ball.

I think Harden , Melton make more since because Melton is the better spot up shooter and Harden makes up for his subpar ballhandling. Maxey and Melton backcourt has always been too small for my liking . Also I believe Maxey will take a step defensively and having Springer next to him to guard the bigger guard, I think defensively Springer will be able to generate steals and offensively will also be a fastbreak run mate for Maxey.

Would love to see a Maxey, Springer,House, Mcdaniels,Reed lineup. Uber athletic , uptempo, disruptive defensively and looks like a Nick Nurse type of lineup.

It's a bench lineup to push the tempo and produce points with Embiid and Harden off the floor and also allow Maxey to grow more on -ball.

so a lineup to just run around for a couple minutes with no shooting/spacing, minimal defense, limited rebounding...

sounds like an easy 6-10 point deficit
