Should probably have a dedicated thread, actually...

Let's not jinx the board, now....too many bickering flashbacks of Iguodala....

The only ones relying on that are you and a handful of others here. The high upside guys and solid role players should be the targets with cap space, not a fantasy run at an aging or oft-injured superstar who won't come here anyway, and thank goodness for that.

If Tobias took 3/60 to continue playing for the Sixers next off-season, his reputation would do a 180 he'd be treated like a hero. He should do that.

Would be reasonable with a discount for the sixers giving him the actual contract. Would love that.

I'm down. He'd be a decently valuable trade chip at that price also.

He's negotiating with Morey this time, not the clown show from summer 2019.

if we let Tobias get to FA, he is running out of town lol

Dude has been a pro and the fanbase has blamed him for everything. He will have suitors around the league.

Tobias is overpaid for what he is...HOWEVER dude has done all that has been asked of him since coming here..he may not like it or even be good at it but he's done it lol. This is an Iggy situation in which because the FO overpaid him for a role he wasn't good enough for the player gets thrashed for it. I bet he can't wait to leave lol. I am surprised he hasn't asked for a trade actually lol.

The Assassin would never accept such a contract (but I'd 100% be on board)

I would love to throw an offer at Ayo Dosunmu, he’d be an awesome role player off the bench with long-term upside. I’m sure the Bulls would match the offer tho.

I am starting to become hyperfocused on the organizational damage of primarily committing resources to players over 30. In Tobias’s age 32, 33, and 34 seasons, I think we should expect a decline, and I don’t know that he would be much of a valuable trade chip. He doesn’t really lean much on athleticism, but he likely will be more limited getting to the basket and won’t be able to guard small forwards. He would be even more of a corner three guy, and he isn’t even strongly suited for that role now.

If he is going to be the exact quality of player the next four years, then he is good for $20 million, but I expect him to slowly taper off to the point where we are stuck with an overpaid assassin… again.

My boy the_process is even more anti-Assassin than JRoy!

Don't let hatred consume your heart bro. Hating on Sniper's $39M/yr atrocity of a contract is about to become a sunk-cost fallacy.

Then we let him walk. The whole point is to have undervalued contracts on the team, not overvalued... whether that's the Assassin or anyone else.

My knee jerk reaction is absolutely not...

But should we be talking about Tyler Herro as a possibility in some type of 4 team megatrade between us, Miami, Portland and the Clippers?

He's definitely a "hate the face" guy for me. And the defensive pairing of him and Maxey could be problematic. And the contract isn't great.

...but he is only 23, can shoot his ass off, and has some playmaking ability off the dribble. At least offensively I think him, Maxey and Embiid could work quite well together.

I'm guessing Morey has bigger plans to try and get a top-30 guy in here somehow.

So we just gonna keep doing the Tobias thing ? :banghead: that sounds as goofy as Morey has a secret plan to to get a top 30 player to fix this team

Tobias agrees to 3 years 60mil to become hometown hero   :noway: :noway:

A non-tax MLE contract will probably be ~$15M by 2026/2027. So signing Tobi to a $20M contract over the next 3 years is not a crazy idea. I feel like we need to start talking about contracts as a % of the salary cap because the numbers are growing too fast.

No, he's such an overrated player.

Tobias is a career loser, 2 points in the deciding game 6 against the Celtics, 11 missed threes in a key game against the Raptors etc. Can't really shoot threes when push comes to shove (25% in the series against the Celtics on a relatively low volume), can't really pass, has a very low free throw rate. Can anyone explain why we cannot get a better player for 3/60?

And I think that he would want and get more than anything that anything we would offer to him. Because he is good in the regular season, there would be suitors I guess. Also maybe some team would think they could make him useful in the playoffs as well within their system.
