Enough with the dunk contest going on last. The 3 point contest is clearly the main event.

The worst part is they wanted him to win so bad. His ideas legit look like he came up with them in the locker room a couple hours before. Can you believe this was given a 49?

At the end of the night Reggie was clamoring for more big names. I get that angle, but you can't just throw any big names in there if they aren't good dunkers. Dudes like Zion with reputations as good dunkers, yes of course. Also can we get him and Kenny Smith off the microphones for this event please?

I'm guessing we won't put a AS bid in until the center city/China Town arena is built? It's been 20+ years since the second biggest city on the East coast hosted the AS game. Pretty wild stuff

Jaylon looked right at Maxey wide open and didn't pass it back to him.

I used to roll my else when people talked crap about the all-star game but it truly is an abomination.

This Barkley, Green alt cast needs to become a thing yesterday. Maybe for the finals or something. Charles should have one for sure.

He's amazing at it, I typically hate these Alt cast because I can't follow the games, but this game sucks and Charles has been hilarious

Its like they all watched how to be boring and say the right things. No real passion, grit, or substance.

When they put the mic in their face, they pretty much say the same thing. Too damn nice....and I'll say it....soft.

It's all of that, and yet the ratings were up, so go figure.

About time to bring some conference rivalry back.

Actual East vs West.... or ditch it.

Would rather watch players with a beef with each other put the gloves on and beat the shyte out of each other in a boxing ring.

What conference rivalry? Those days are loooooong gone, these guys don't have any conference loyalty. It is nothing more than an exhibition where the goal is to have a little fun and no one gets hurt. Hell, James said as much after the game.

If hundreds of millions of dollars were on the line, I’d make myself sound like a PR robot too.

Exactly. Plus, every time they do say something remotely different bordering on controversial, they’re crucified for it. There’s always something to b*tch about.

Seems like the ASG is getting ripped this year even more than usual. Does Silver pretend it's not happening for another year or do we see a change in 2025?

Well, I of course agree, you can go the Jordan/Tiger/Lebron way and make a ton of cash. Course they have both had issues now as everything doesn't stay silent and controlled like it used to back in the day. There are some that have rebelled, and they didn't make as much money cause of it, like Iverson/Tyson/Rodman and such, but it would be nice to have a personality out there that is different than the normal corporate speak.

There is no one in the game like that anymore, which makes it just plain boring to even keep up with the new guys. And no, Draymond doesn't count cause he's just an idiot. Bev thinks he's old school, but he's not. No wonder both have been put on TV, they aren't as boring as the rest of the guys in the NBA at least.

Because it was that bad. The worst.

They could simply give fans what they want. The moments you USED to think of in this game were matchups you wanted to see. Like Magic going at Michael. Are you sending a double? No! But Michael should try to individually stop Magic from making a play... If Magic can't score, but throws a pass into Hakeem for a dunk... Fans got what they want.

It's a 3pt shootout and layup line... Horrid

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/nbas-all-star-game-has-become-unwatchable-and-it-also-might-be-unfixable/

Honestly, what changes could be made to save this mess? If the players don't care, it's game over - how is Silver going to magically make them care? More money? More gimmicks?

The reason these weekends were fun in the '80's was because the stars understood their responsibility and cared, took part in the 3-pt shootout and dunk contest, and tried in the actual game, especially in the 4th quarter. And you had stars like Jordan, Erving, Magic, Barkley, Miller, Isaiah, Bird, Wilkins, Malone, etc. There might come a time when today's stars again have that kind of magnetism, but I doubt it.

But all Silver will see is that somehow ratings were up for this year's 'festivities', so I'm sure he will spin it as a rousing success.

One on one tournament. Getting your ass cooked in a one on one game would look bad for your brand. That’d be more interesting than an actual game.
