I get that by having more teams in the playoffs, the league generates a ton of more revenue and create fan interest in more markets but the fact that the playoffs start in late April and late all the way thru late June is a bit ridiculous. I mean, there are more teams that actually make the playoffs than miss them and so what's the real purpose of playing the 82 games prior?? Why not add a little more meaning to the regular season and even more meaning to the playoffs and reduce them down to just 8 teams (4 from each conference). There are plenty of good baseball teams that miss the cut each year and they play twice as many games.

The NBA has more in common with the NHL.
And is that something to be proud of? The NHL set a record on NBC last year for the least watched program in prime time history. I do get your point in that the NHL and NBA have seasons that run a similar length but while hockey continues to struggle, both the NFL and MLB are setting records (ratings for the NFL and attendance records for baseball). If I recall correctly, the ratings for lasy years' NBA Finals were very low. It'll be interesting to see what the ratings come in at if we end up with a Celtics-Lakers Finals instead of a Cleveland-San Antonio one.

For some reason I am really looking forward to this game. The match-up are interesting.
People talked about picking Young for potential over Thornton's current talent. Thornton has been playing well recently. I hope they get minutes matched up, and I wonder if Young is already better than Thornton (although Thornton is more explosive.) Carney v Thornton and Young v Thomas should be interesting too.
Is Cassell playing? Him vs Miller is a good matchup of crafty pgs. I hate watching Cassell draw those junk fouls, but I think Miller get get him back in the post.
Of course, any time Reggie and Caveman are playing should be must see TV.

Maggette? No, takes to many shots and I dont think he knows how to play team basketball. Thats one thing I'll say about the sixers, they know how to get everyone their shots. I dont think Maggette would be a good fit.
BTW, did anyone catch that Brand has been running for about 2 weeks now. Thats a good sign that he'll e back to around 100% by the start of training camp. Good news atleast for if he becomes a free agent.

That spinning hook looks like a shot that could be a go-to move for Thad in years to come.
