I cant see Iverson coming back to Philly and not try to score 50. He will want to put on a show this will be a good game. However Sixers lose this one.

I think the Nuggets are going to be surprised at the level of effort being exerted by the Sixers. They will be frustrated by the Sixer defense and we will see the familiar whining from AI for the lack of a call when he gets bumped. I think the Sixers win going away ... Sixers by 10

We need someone athletic to guard Carmelo Anthony, we cannot afford for Reggie Evans to be taking fouls and being a liability on the defensive end.

Edit: Proof of this. Carmelo Anthony scored 19 of his 22 game pts in the first half of our last meeting. I'm suspecting that means Reggie Evans played the forward spot for the majority of the first half. Whereas Thad got the rest and registered 11 pts/8 boards. Yeah, I'm starting Thad against Melo tonight. And having him rotate with athletic guard/forwards to keep Melo off the ball. As for Iverson, well, he's Iverson. Can't help that.

We should start:

Miller
Iguodala
Young
Evans
Dalembert
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Watford/Barlow/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

The Sixers played a lot of zone in the first half of that game against the Sixers. And when Young got matched up with Anthony late in the 2nd quarter, Carmelo torched him with his jab step. It wil be interesting to see how far Thad has come in the past 2.5 months since they last met.

The problem with playing Evans lots of minutes is that it frees Camby up to do his thing defensively. The Nuggets are far less effective when Camby actually has to guard someone and is not able to help as much. Personally, I would love to see the Sixers start Smith at PF alongside Dalembert, Young, Iguodala, and Miller. Jason can pull either Camby or Martin away from the interior and open things up for Miller and Iguodala to penetrate the Nuggets horrendous perimeter defense that their guards play. Who's Iverson gonna guard in that lineup - Miller or Iguodala?

We played against ourselves? :P. JK. Thanks for going into deeper detail about the game with me. Now I know that my calculations were slightly off. And I agree with your coaching moves as well. But in that case, I want to change my defensive strategy.

Now I want to play PREVENTION defense throughout the course of the game. What does that mean? I want to play alot of trap. Alot of 3-2 situations. What does that mean? I want Iggy/Miller/Green(Carney) pressuring the half-court. They have Anthony **** Carter as their PG. I wanna exploit that. I wanna keep the ball out of Melo's hands and force them to attack a Samuel Dalembert/Reggie Evans waiting in the paint.

Good point about Camby. I don't think Smith is ready to start though I wouldn't mind him getting more minutes.

Do you think the crowd will erupt everytime Iverson scores or will the crowd give him his big ovation at the start and after his first couple of points and then go on to support the Sixers??

Also... tonight (Monday) was a great night for the Sixers. The Hawks beat the Wizards, the Raptors got destroyed in Utah, and the Cavs lost to the Magic which means the Sixers are now only 1 game out of the FIFTH seed and a half game behind the sixth spot. If Cleveland continues to struggle we could talk about homecourt in the first round although it's a longshot.

Can't disagree with you on that. I do expect both Evans and Smith to bring it against the Nuggets. Evans since its his old team and Smith because he grew up in Colorado and will be on local TV.

wow, if we get the fith seed thats amazing enough but homecourt.... i think my mind would literally explode. I love it, we are the 2nd most talked about team recently.

TGP and Sixersftw, just started a thread on this- sorry I missed your posts (but its probably a good idea to have a separate running thread on other key games.)

Cleveland has 4 less losses, but we play them 3X. Maybe we can go Phillies-Mets on them- win 3 straight to get home court and then win another 4 straight to sweep them out of the ployoffs... Bartender, I think I need a refill.

TGP- There should be a huge ovation at the introduction- deservedly so. But during the game I expect the normal star treatment we see when Lebron or another star is here- when they score you hear a backround of a bunch of kids cheering (that sort Disney kind of cheer- not the sound of the whole arena erupts.)

I would expect(hope) most fans will not cheer for him during the game when he is scoring at the expense of the Sixers. I do expect some spontaneous oohs and ahhs if he makes a spectacular cross-over or shot.

During the Rockets-Lakers game on sunday, they actually brought up how WELL the SIXERS were doin.

I was stunned.

I love AI and I can't wait to see him in town again. I'll never forget what he did for the Sixers. He is the most exciting player I have ever seen in my history of watching sports.

I hope the Sixers win obviously, but I hope AI has a great game, and I hope everyone down there gives him 100% support.

if i was there i would boo A.I. im sorry i know he has done a lot for this team but he also is the reason why we were in this hole for such a long time. he's attitude and being a non team player has cost this team a possible championship.

Long team reader.. first time poster

I was at the game against the Spurs on Saturday and it was GREAT! Another big win for the Sixers...

I'm real scared of JR Smith tomorrow night, I think whether or not he's on from beyond the arc will determine who wins the game...

Something I really like is that Andre Miller can post up smaller point guards like Tony Parker, get his points, and also pick up fouls on the other team. Hopefully he can do more of the same tomorrow night

Feels good to be able to watch the Celtics/Rockets game tonight and enjoy myself waiting for tomorrow's game

Speaking of the NBA finals... does anyone know where I can get my hands on the Raptors & Bucks series? They were up as torrents once upon a time but have since gone. That was AI at his best.

How about he said he would kiss mo cheeks on the lips, then said that he had that huge fight with Mo in practice about the offense. Funny how AI always had problems with the Offense and never talked about the other side of the ball. He seemed to have no problem with it.

Allen Iverson complained after the season was over about how Jim O'Brien didn't play much zone when he was coach. And, it's Maurice **** Cheeks. Even I was upset with how the offense was being ran.
