Noel just isn't a center (body-wise).

He would benefit from playing next to an offensively gifted center.
I see him playing great next to a DeMarcus Cousins or Nikola Vucevic. Or Embiid.

But when we have Okafor or Towns after the draft, and Saric comes over after next season (who is a 4, not a 3 like some people proclaim), I think Noel is on the trade block.

I don't want to jump to early conclusions, but Noel will never be a finished product and offensively limited.

WOW, look at all the negatives people are complaining about. Everyone knew Noel had no offensive game from the start, it's not like his scouting reports are like Embiid's. He has just 20 something game under his belt and you can make a conclusion on what he will be? That is ridiculous, there are a bunch of players that took a few years in the league to develop into the player they are now. Need to have patience people and you guys make it seem like we are competing for a Championship or playoff seeding. We are in a rebuilding/player development phase.

Even if Noel doesn't develop a offensive game down the line, we still need defense. Can't have all 5 guys on the court be all offensive guys and just OK on defense, remember defense wins most of the time. I can care less if Noel has no offensive game as long as he develops into a dominating defensive presence and improve his free throw shooting, I will be happy with that.

It was really impressive last night late in the game when Noel matched up with Conley on a switch and then stole the ball from him.

That's what makes him so special. He's simply that athletic. If the Sixers can turn that into a little offensive production, then he becomes unstoppable.

Here's a video of it: http://on.nba.com/1ww5UZy The Conley one is the last one.

What did you expect from him? Did you think he would be a good offensive player? You must not have watched him at Kentucky.

lol these guys expected him to turn into KG its hilarious

On a brighter note Nerlens is now top 7 in the NBA fg% wise when it comes to defense at the rim minimum 6.5 fga. Only allowing 45.3% at the rim.

I think it's more laughable that he's getting out rebounded by his PG.

KG, lol. KG outplayed Noel the other night and he's 108 years old with 90 years in the NBA. Dudes getting ready for his pension and Social Security. I like how fans mention Ben Wallace, Noel would have to suddenly more than double his current rebounding output to match Wallace.

10 ppg shouldn't be to much to ask for Noel and I think he can do that eventually when Embiid gets there, especially when he starts putting on some weight, that will help him more than anything else. KG, lol.

Btw, should we go back to the beginning of this thread to see some predictions? I just want a dunk a quarter.

I expected of him to be able to catch the ball

Was that too much to ask?

Maybe I should have lowered my expectations and expect him to just be able to wear the jersey

... of hyperbole.

Noel is 20 years old. Most of the posters on this website couldn't get their homework in on time at 20 years old. Let's give the kid in his 21st game of his professional career a break for god's sakes.

when I was 20 I was just about 2 years in the army.

so if I could serve in the army at 20 years old I think Noel should be able to catch the ball

I still think Noel is extremely raw. He need to improve dramatically to be ROY.

And LeBron averaged 20 ppg 5 rpg and 5 apg as a kid straight out of high school. People mature at different rates.

Also, I know, he's never caught a ball in his life. He has 0 ppg due to having absolutely zero offensive game and not being able to actually grasp the ball every time it's thrown to him. I can speak in hyperbole too.

No need to overreact. Noel is in a rookie slump and he will get out of it. I'll predict that he rebounds (literally) tonight against Boston's soft frontcourt.

Noel will be fine. Repeat after me, Noel will be fine. He'll look much better with a competent offense around him. Needs to score of dump-offs, rebounds, fast breaks, lobs. Giving him the ball on the block or top of the key and expecting him to create offense is recipe for failure.

I'm not sure how you can predict that Noel will thrive against a "soft frontcourt." In case you haven't noticed, Noel is arguably the easiest box-out in the league. Guys like Sullinger, Bass, and even Olynik should have no problem winning the battle of the boards against Nerlens.

Agree that there's no question he'll thrive in a lineup with more offensive focal points.

The concern I think a lot of people have (including myself) is that he routinely gets at least a couple of dump-off, fast break, put-back, or lob opportunities per game and so far through 20 games the majority of them have literally fallen right through his hands.
