Byran was the one of the worst GM's in the league prior to his firing in Toronto. Hiring him means signing mediocre talent to big money. Noone knows how to eat through cap space faster then this guy.
Funny thing is, a similar thing happened to Colangelo in Toronto when he stepped down after they brought someone else in. And Masai Ujiri was about to break up the team when pretty much the EXACT team Bryan built came in first in their division and won it with the same coach as the previous year. Much of the core is the same. At least Valuncias, Lowry and DeRozan were all acquisitions made before. He obviously made his share of mistakes though.
I wonder if he had not pulled the trigger on the trade last summer dealing MCW (which I had heard he had to really convince ownership to allow him to make that trade) if that started the process of them wanting to bring someone else in. Though I'm sure you guys know more details regarding that.
Brian actually wanted Steve Nash to be our PG. He got Lowry out of desperation to save his job when that backfired and we ended up with Landry fields at 7 mill a season. Thankfully Lowry has worked out but he was never his first choice

Dark days in Philadelphia.
My excitement level for the lottery / draft / FA has gone from 100 to 0. I can't care for this BS.
I love basketball, but one has to take a stand when it comes to rooting for frauds like Josh Harris.

They go from a guy who is too smart for his own good, to a guy who is too dumb for his own good.
There's a middle ground here Sixers. Shouldn't be too hard to find it.
Hopefully they don't bring in BC. They have to see the reaction to possibly bringing him in isn't positive. It would be awful to actually waste the good things Hinkie actually did accomplish.

This is devastating, moreso due to Bryan fking Colangelo being our new GM. I'm definitely gonna miss Hinkie and I still believe he would've been our best option going forward, at least for the next year or two. But I have a bad feeling about putting all our assets at Colangelo's disposal.

Serious question...what is a good avenue for all of us to let the owners know our extreme displeasure with not only pushing him out but with the garbage hiring right after?

GMs should have to be announced to the fan base so we all have a chance to cheer or boo.
This is disgraceful.

Ban him then.
Why do we have to tolerate agitators on this board?
He is clearly trying to agitate for his own enjoyment.

chill out man. if you can't have a civilized conversation because you're more of a Hinkie fanboy than a Sixers fan, then I don't know what to tell you.
thats always been the issue with the Hinkie cult. It's like you've lost perspective on why we're all really here.
like i said before I LIKE HINKIE. just don't need to worship and go into depression because he's gone
You aren't being civilized.
You are going up to people at a funeral who are grieving and telling them that the deceased was an ass hole.
Totally classless.

Re: Sam Hinkie steps down per Marc Stein
not coincidently there was an article in phillymag recently that claimed the narrative that Josh Harris was some "die hard basketball/Palestra" fan was total PR driven bullcrap.
it kind of feeds into the conspiracy theory that Josh Harris is a total businessman at heart, and cares nothing about basketball or winning championships and just wants to sell the team for a massive profit.

If we were hiring him to run the Phillies not so much. The thing about Brian is he's awful. Sam was right to resign it's one thing to share duties with a trusted voice like Jerry it's another to play second fiddle to his know nothing son.
Ferry woulda traded all the africans on our team (Okafor/Embiid) if he don't like deng lmfaooooo

How many misses did he have? How many years was he given. I mean even a monkey can get to treadmill status picking in the top ten year after year.
He was GM from 2006-2013. Too bad Hinkie wasn't given even four years. He accomplished more in two and half years then the seven years Brian was with the raps.

That was the joke.
We are very fragile right now. Jokes are not welcome here.
Sorry I would be too and as Bucks fan can understand your pain. Just trying to lighten the mood with little comedy too soon I see. I honestly can't believe that Hinkie is gone before his plan could come to fruition. He was doing what I had wished the Bucks would do for a long time.
Bucks fandom bringing me happiness still seems like a dream.

Re: Sam Hinkie steps down per Marc Stein
Worst thing imaginable given where we are in this re-build process. Hinkie did the right thing by leaving if these tweets are true. BC is not going to know what to do with the assets we've collected and will piss them away. Plus, the comfort of knowing that we are always looking for good value opportunities and future assets is gone. Hinkie was too real for too long. He understood that unless you have a top 5 NBA player, you're not going to win a championship. Sounds like our management doesn't understand that. Hinkie will get another opportunity elsewhere and build a great team.
