I really hope he plays SF. I don't think you guys would like him on defense at PF. He's not active in boxing out (out jumps people @amateur level)or challenging shots. Wouldn't hurt his "grab and go" game which reminds me of JKidd's nets days back then.

From what I see through online scouting videos (which should be taken with a grain of salt), he has really good lateral quickness at 6'10, and also locked up the top PGs in high school. I think he has a much bigger chance at being a plus defender at the 3 then at the 4.

His halfcourt offense needs work whether he plays the 3 or the 4, and like you said his grab and go game will be effective at the 3 also.

Simmons will play and defend multiple positions on the court. Primary position = Basketball Player

I do too. I think when you have the option between Simmons or Ingram the dealbreaker for me is who can play SF. Jah is going to be a great PF.

My main concern about Simmons isn't fit. He can play SF. It's whether or not he is willing to work on his jump shot. I know Ingram working he's already put on 20 pounds.

BC is a basketball guy so he should know. Played some BBall in highschool. I'm sure Brown, Simmons, and the rest of Sixers brain-trust defer to the "basketball guy".

Was that before or after his stint as a model with Armani?

Jerry should've just told the truth. Being a basketball guy means being connected to the good old boys network and not being a "numbers nerd". The anti-intellectualism still present in the world is astounding.

Anyway, if Simmons can play the 3 or the 1 I can get on board with him as the pick. If the "basketball guy" forces him on Brett at the 4 it's not gonna be pretty. Be exactly like when Bryan completely wasted prime Bosh.

Uh oh. Simmons doesn't rank in the top 3. The Ingram guys may be back on board with wanting him as the top pick.

Based on Chad Ford's reports after watching him work out, he is working hard on his shooting.

I am in the camp that he can shoot and just didn't need to on the college level. How can he shoot 56% from the field when everyone knows he is driving?

He will be fine.

Idk, he didn't privately message me. I don't like discussing other forum's/board's discussions which is why I just alluded to it, suggest reading it for yourself.

Lol sounds like the guy wants attention.

If crazyeights, the mod there that received the PM, if he had dismissed it than I would have just ignored it. He didn't though - in fact - it seems like he may believe him.

New info

I am a big Ingram fan, and although from what I've heard is very similar to what I heard about Okafor last year, I still hope the Lakers pick Ingram and be patient bringing him along, but the #2 pick is in no way settled. The Lakers are still working out prospects and setting up more work outs.

Maybe overanalyzing. But most pics and clips are with him shooting mid range and FTs. The 3s are more with the fancy football stuffs he did.

Anyway, I trust Chad and Brett on this. Both are confident that he can be a good shooter. Brett compared him to Kawhi's shooting If Im not mistaken. If you watch the HS championship between Oakhill and Montverde, his coach also let him take crucial FTs down the stretch, that is despite missing a lot prior. These are the facts that changed my sentiment with his shooting.

I think the comparison to Kawhi was just in that he was a non shooter that became a good shooter, and not necessarily that he shot it like him.

Still pretty good if that is true.

How many would Deandre Jordan or Andre Drummond hit in practice?

People tend to think that Simmons has no jumper like those guys, but in reality those guys wouldn't hit close to 50% unopposed.

This one seems almost redundant. Yeah you can speculate that Ingram may be chosen but I think we all know Simmons is the one for the Sixers.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
