Brett says Jah is making real progress and he's going to be a player, but not for us. kind of chiseled in stone. so it's Amir and Holmes. both have looked a lot better. i'm hoping Holmes gets back to real progress his own self. (also wish we had that kid who we stashed in Israel.)

This I don't understand. If you as an organization/coach believe this then let him play and get something for him. It just makes no sense to me. If he's going to be a player let him play.

You don't understand why an organization/coach would publically say positive things about a player that they want to trade?

Brett Brown used to rave about Jakarr Sampson, too.

Coach speak should be taken with a grain of salt. Especially from a guy like Brett Brown who is known for his positivity and player relations.

yeah, sure, on the fly, of course a used car salesman is going to sell you "a real honey". but i'm not reacting to like one statement Brett made in front of the kliegs. just following the bits Keith has put out the past couple of months, Brett has been mentioning , very low key, not only Jah's attitude and the close relationship that Brett has maintained throughout this difficult situation, but the genuine progress the kid continues to make, despite being barred. call me naive, but i think Brett takes pride in maintaining a kind of paternal counsel for his kids as well as some degree of sincerity. (Keith, his own self, quietly expressed surprise at Jah's progress right up to the point where he got benched at the end of the preseason, right after the SBNation piece.)

Sure but I don't think that means he wants to play him over the other guys on the team.

There is plenty of evidence that Holmes and Johnson were ahead of Okafor in the rotation prior to that article coming out.

Amir sucks man I'm sorry. I wish all the cute stats could dress up that fact because he seems like a good dude and a team first guy.

then fish or cut bait. s*** or get off the pot. if Jah's no good, despite what all these players around the league are saying, why are we making such a big deal of keeping him until we get what he's worth, if it's next to nothing? and if we want to get something for him, why are we doing everything we can to minimize his value? this is the opposite of Michael Corleone. I don't. It's not what you say it's what you do. If you are not going to put him out there. Then all your talk is just talk. If you are waiting on someone to give you something for Jah, after you declined his option, put him at the bottom of the center rotation and are giving him zero minutes, then you are just waiting for a sucker to bite. You need to pretty him up a little. And talk alone is not going to do it.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

Where's that coming from? He's a back-up, and he finishes well, defends the rim decently, rebounds alright, good on rotations. You should be judging him compared to other back-ups (dudes like Boban Marjanovic and Tyler Zeller). He's not supposed to be exciting.

He does all those things? Maybe yesterday but for the majority of the year he's been roadkill.

He's averaging 13 rebounds per 36 this season, and he's always solid at defensive rotations. He hasn't been at his best on offense yet but he's been a very efficient finisher forever--b/w 58%-64% TS every year for 11 years straight--and I doubt he suddenly started sucking this year out of nowhere.

Amir Johnson has been a very worthwhile signing. Comes in for a few minutes, gets 5-6 rebounds, disrupts a few shots in the paint, makes the correct play on offense and sits down. He's been better than I expected. Not used to getting anything like that from our back-up Center.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

He is perfect in his role right now for us. You need guys like him to round out your bench.

Are there still any Amir haters? The guy has been great. This play in particular stood out where he battles 4 Pistons for the offensive rebound (@5:34), but even just watching through the highlights, you see how he creates a lot of value without needing athleticism because of his effort and BBIQ. Saric, as another unathletic guy that seems willing to do the dirty work, could learn a good bit from Amir this year.

jonjames is a signature bet welcher.

His rebounding has been a welcome surprise. 13.6 rebounds per 36 (tied with Embiid for 10th in the league), 15.1 ORB% 23.9 DRB% 19.6 TRB%. All career highs. I guess in the past he was always playing with another big guy and had to cover the perimeter a little more. Team grabs 2.4% more boards with him in the game, which is pretty crazy given that Embiid is generally in when he isn't.

If he was on a 4 year 44 million dollar deal instead of a 1 year 11 million dollar deal then he would be a bad contract.

For one year though, and for his current role, he is terrific. I appreciate his minutes, and he is way better than Holmes or Okafor for the same role.

I love watching him play. Have to imagine he's setting a great examples in practice and on the court for the young guys too.
