Well I do know one thing, I've seen Ben develop more during this season than I had ever hoped.
The supporting cast has to get better, too bad we were busy selling picks instead of developing talent. Its a mess, one thats not Morey's fault, and I'm still trying to see if its even possible to fix it with our limited resources at this point.
Never thought he could get rid of Horford, but he did. I don't want any rash moves, so we will need some luck to really improve this team.

going balls to the wall for win now players is exactly why our bench is **** right now.
I love Jo...but if he is going to fall off that much next year then we weren't winning it all this season any way lol.
and guess what barring injuries to other teams...we will not win it all this year. Even if we trade for Lowry, and he doesn't fall off...he alone does not put us over the top and getting him will more than likely require most of our tradeable assets so the bench is then probably even worse somehow. Danny Green is one frustrating dude to watch but he gives us another guy who might occasionally play defense and hit open 3s. He is also the only tradeable contract that ammounts to any real amount of money...so any Lowry trade will require him and probably some picks and a prospect. I just don't think that changes the outcome by much IMO.
No one wants to read this but...we are going to have to suffer through the inevitable and make the changes in the offseason. Embiid getting a crash course in double teams and Ben figuring out how to effect games in the playoffs is what we will take from this year and build off the results of that.
annd yet I say this as I dread watching games lol....so wtf do i know?

We are just a top heavy team. Any injury can affect this team.
We have no shot at ecf if we don’t get the 2 seed. We can defend home court with fully healthy team. I truly believe that. But if we fall to 3 seed. It’s a second round exit.

I think you're right, but I don't think Jo or Ben will like that. I also don't think Morey will. He always does something at the deadline. He has to see this team needs help. I guess I'm curious, what do you see us being able to do in the offseason that we can't do at the deadline?

That's the problem, there's no way to speed up the process. We should have nailed the picks in 2017 and 2018 if we wanted to be great now. We can't change the timeline, we just have to wait on Maxey and whatever creators we add after him.
Maybe get lucky and catch a team slipping. Like using Thybulle to get Walker from New Orleans.
I agree with that. I just don't think this team has that time. Different philosophies I suppose.

teams are more flexible during the offseason than the middle of the year IMO. especially those who flame out in FA. We also will have more tape and time on our youth. Ben, while not that young, took a leap midseason...Shake did so last year as well.. Plus another star could be available around then as well.
but yeah Jo,Ben, Morey...hell Tobias aren't going to just wait it out either. IMO that is still the best move knowing what I know...who knows Morey might be able to get dirt on some GM and get a steal....but until then Lowry is the best move and IMO is a lateral one with potential long term downside.

Morey's actions so far have indicated that this is an evaluation year. He said championship or bust, but is he just paying lip service to everyone? Deadline will be telling. I'm guessing a minor move or two to try and shore up the bench.

I only saw the 2nd half but, while you're right, no one played well tonight. Embiid definitely wasn't MVP Embiid--missed good looks, passed poorly out of (very telegraphed) doubles, and couldn't quite figure out his aggression+timing. Wasn't a terrible game but the comp was pretty weak and he just sort of looked like last season Embiid for much of the night. (He was also a little pathetic on defense against Garland and Sexton, those guys are quick but there's not that many ways they can finish at the cup and Embiid seemed pretty slow tracking them.) Simmons wasn't able to find enough of a rhythm to dominate either, lot of herky-jerky drives and trying to will his way to the cup without a real plan.
The frustrating thing of this game was that, aside from Curry, no one played especially bad and they couldn't pull away at any point from a Cavs team that didn't play that well either. Shake was solid and scored when no one else could down the stretch, and the bench had a nice stretch at the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 4th. The overall story seems like the SL just couldn't manage to outplay the Cavs and string together enough of a run to get a solid lead (though some of that is shooters' fault), and then the Cavs hit some shots when they needed to. Good game to only catch the box score for.

Danny Green absolutely has to go. We also need to trade Maxey. The biggest issue is that even if we get a scorer, everyone else still sucks. It really was the worst possible way to build a team. I have no idea how Morey fixes this slop.
That is such an overreaction to a bad loss. Danny Green has been good for us this season. Exactly the type of player you expect him to be. Nothing more, nothing less.
And why do we NEED to trade Maxey? What exactly has he done so there is such need?
What we really need is to understand that we didn’t have our 3rd best player today , and Curry didn’t make his shots.
And we need one more scorer, without giving up much. Or, if we up a lot, only for a star.

He's done nothing. That 39 point game shows his talent that we can dangle for a more productive player or in a package for a star. Green again messed up fouling late when we didn't need to. He does this every game.sixers4real wrote:eyeatoma wrote:phillynative wrote:We may need to trade Greens salary for something and slide Matisse into his spot.

Keeping Ben and Jo is not blowing it up. Tonight just reiterates the point that this team is not going to win a championship. They won't even win the East. A team headlined by Jo/Ben/Tobi with no perimeter creators and in the luxury tax is not good enough and not sustainable.
We knew all of that even before that loss.

Regarding Maxey, yeah, we can trade him in package for a star, over wise there is no point in trading him for, let’s say rental. And I’m not sure what are you expecting him to show in 5 minutes every game as a 20 year old rookie. But he’s shown some flashes. If you view his as nothing, then he has no trade value, then why trade him.
Regarding Green, I don’t think that he’s fouling late EVERY game, everyone makes mistakes.
We lack a guard who can score, that’s a fact. And I’m sure Morey is working on that.

That was a dreadful effort tonight one of the worst three, if not the worst, efforts of the year mainly because imo Cleveland did not even play particularly well. Garland and Sexton put up numbers but thery were something like a combined 20 of 53 from the field. The Sixers offense was mindnumbingly bad. Someone should put an APB out for Seth Curry. Ben had a typical annoying Ben game 12 points in the first quarter, very little after that, and tons of turnovers and stupid deicisions late. He should give his all star slot to Tobias Harris.

Daryl knows this team needs a trade to win a title.
What I *hope* is he realizes that Ben and Joel will (hopefully) be at this level for several years so if there's not a good trade to make that happen he can wait. Like don't give up the Harden package for Lavine just because the Bulls are demanding it.

If Ben continues to develop his scoring, i dont mind adding a loss in day to day win-loss record.
To win this game, we need Tobi.
To win make it deep in the playoffs, we need Ben to play this way, we need Tobi to atleast maintain his level of play and we need to add another Tobi level player.

I agree and I don’t get some of these over reactions on a regular season lost against the Cavs. Baffles my mind that some people are crying end of the world
We will be fine once Tobias comes back.

Danny Green is good. But you know who would have been better? Al Horford.
D12 -8
Biid +5
Until we make use that cap space to accommodate another player, only Josh Harris won that trade.
