All the focus is on Ben… could Tobias be traded tonight?

Tobias is almost untradeable with that contract. We would have to give up assets or take on trash on a Tobias trade.

I don't know what all of you are expecting.

Tobias still puts up numbers. Someone will look at him as an upgrade, albeit an expensive one, and therefore one they will pay few assets to acquire. But not someone they will avoid IMO.

I could see a 3 way deal for example with the Lakers and Kings where Tobias goes to Sacto, Hield goes to LA, and Barnes comes East. There would other pieces involved as well but just as the general framework.

Memphis has a plethora of forwards and are due for a consolidation trade. After we trade Ben, Maxey, + for Dame, I’d love a Harris for Anderson + Winslow deal.

Lillard/Milton/Springer
Green/Curry/Hill
Thybulle/Winslow/Joe
Anderson/Reed/Tolliver
Embiid/Howard/Bassey

Maybe replace Green with a more offensively apt guard using the MLE, but overall a pretty balanced roster with better cap flexibility down the road.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:

Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Barlow/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

Number 1 rule .. you don't sign average players to long-term over paid deals. Please unload his franchise crippling contract please ... We can get Morris, warren , gallanari to produce like him for more than a fraction of the cost. Brand as a gm is laughable for that. :banghead:

I’m not the biggest fan of Tobias, but he did improve this year and was a little more consistent. He still plays a little too wild for me but he’s a fine third scoring option if we’re stalled out. It’s when he’s FORCED to take more than 20 shots per game where it gets troubling.

My main problem with trading Tobias is
1) we will have to GIVE assets for someone to take his contract
2) receive most likely another awful contract in return (although likely for less years)
3) receiving a low-tier type of player compared to Tobias

This all matters since we are clearly in “win-now” mode with Embiid’s window. I’m not so sure we get a starting caliber player back by trading Harris… which only opens yet another hole on this team.

Tldr; Very tough call on what to do with Tobias lol

Kemba walker and John Wall come to mind. Lead guard and groom Simmons to be a scorer.

Some framework with Tobi back to the clips, filler to okc, and Morris and Kemba here

Our best advantage over the league is our elite defenders Simmons, Thybulle and Embiid. Build on that.

Yeah, what we need is less shooting around Simmons

that's not an advantage. we haven't been able to stop a single star player in a playoff series.

We showed our elite defense when Trae Young and his motley crew of role players obliterated us.

I take it you people have learned nothing from the whole Bynum experience.

I mean, defense wasn't the problem. The problem was we couldn't score at all down the stretch with Simmons + Thybulle on the court at the same time.

You talk about building on elite defense while your preceding post's brilliant idea is to bring in Kemba?

If this is true it's fantastic news. Tobias is a great guy, but we're never winning anything with his albatross on the books. And he's a bad fit with both Joel and Ben.

Morey's a sharp dude, so he's looking to sell high after his "all-star" season.

So.... it seems a commitment to building around defensive only players is not the move, right?

It is all about offense these days, it is much easier to win by getting offensive firepower and just practice solid team defense than the other way around.
In the modern NBA, when a player's best calling card is defense, that player is just not that valuable when it matters. You build around offensive savants and figure defense later, that's why Simmons is expendable.
