No one is discussing the fact that Lillard can remain a trade target for Philly after trading Simmons now.

There's the "trade Simmons now" camp for players to help the team win now and the "hold out for Lillard" camp.

But where's the "trade Simmons now for assets that Blazers would want in a future Lillard trade" camp?

But that comes with too many downsides and the fact that Maxey is signed to that clown throws a wrench in it.

Just trade the loser and keep it moving.

What does Maxey have to do with anything? Other then if we start allowing players with four years left of control on their contracts dictate where they play what is to stop Embiid demanding to play for the warriors or Maxey demanding to play for the knicks?

The way you nip this in the bud is to the tell the agent and Simmons that if he wants to be traded we will try and get equal value for him but until then he needs to honor his contract with the Sixers. Also Simmons needs to be told that since his agent didn't negotiate a no trade clause and since he doesn't have a year left on your contract if he tries to sit out he will not be paid.

That is it.

Simmons has 4 years left on his deal he has zero leverage to force a trade anywhere and if Morey allows himself to be strong armed to move him to a California team for peanuts then he should just quit right now because the fanbase will never forgive him.

**** Derek just confirmed it. So it's not just Keith being an agenda driven idiot.

If he wants to be traded then he needs to shutup and accept a trade to any team what he is doing by demanding he be traded to a california team is ensuring he stays a sixer.

There is really no other way this plays out unless he moves off his demands. He can sit out all year the Clippers and Lakers have nothing to offer. The Kings really don't either unless Morey is sold on Fox which he shouldn't be.

What’s wrong with Fox?

Oh ****, Ben won't report to training camp? That's usually the time he shows off all the skills he's developed in the offseason. I hear he's learned how to dribble this year.

F***k Rich Paul.

I'd let Simmons sit out and rot all season before taking a bullschiit trade offer, and I sure as hell am not including Maxey.

Nothing per se. He is a good player but some people question how his game would translate not having the ball as much on a better team.

Me being one of them.

Yeah this is all out war at this point if Morey surrenders to this clown by appeasing Simmons then he will just try the same thing with the rest of his clients.

We need to hold firm regardless of the cost.

I’m still shocked people thought Ben Simmons had the balls to play for us while facing the pressure from fans and media. Guy Shriveled up faster than grape in hot sun in the playoffs. There wasn’t a chance in hell he’d play for us again, even if that meant sacrificing money

Don't know why anyone expected Simmons/Paul to play nice. They were 100% going nuclear if we didn't acquiesce. Anthony Davis all over again.

I've been saying this for weeks now once I came to the realization that there was no way that Simmons would be here at the start of the season or Lillard was getting traded right now. Morey should get what he can for Simmons (preferably high end prospects and minimally protected picks) and use them to get Lillard later.

maxey, beasley, Reid, layman, okogie, two lotto protected 1sts and one 2nd to Toronto

Dragic and Siakam to Philly

Simmons to Min

I think you guys would be happy with Dragic and Siakam..Dragic can still play at a high level. And Siakam is an allstar level player that Morey craved. And he can stretch the floor for embiid. Maybe you guys can get some picks also.

Curry Thybulle, Green, Harris, Embiid -- Maxey, Milton, Joe, Korkmaz, Niang, Reed, Drummond

That's Philly's lineup if Simmons is traded purely for picks. The team is still very good but lacking playmaking or a floor general to start.
Even a single guy like Rubio could provide that, which means the rest of the value can be soaked up in picks. I expect Blazers to want picks for Lillard as they will want to blow it up.

It's an extremely petty move on the part of Rich Paul to drag Maxey into this. This guy is the ultimate scumbag from the sound of it and Ben Simmons isn't far behind.
