Interesting. Where did you read that?

That makes sense that they would think that way. After a while they could move it to 1 day of rest after a game, and that would be progress that we could measure. He still won't play in back to backs with 1 day of rest, but it would be progress.

I hope they bump his minutes to 28 when they revisit that.

This still doesn't completely explain it. This just causes him to have to play on one day's rest Saturday.

He already played on one day's rest between the Cavs and Utah.

Clearly they wanted him to play against Minny and not the Wizards.

Wiggins better keep quiet while Biid is in town. Could mess around and have the national media talking about how Biid should have been picked first in that draft.

Only 33% of Biid's points are in the paint, which has the least in the team

Btw, it is quietly annoying to me that the article on ESPN today is calling Towns the future of the league.

Towns, Davis, Cousins and Embiid are the most talented big men in the league, and different people may rank them differently, but I personally think that Embiid will be number 1 by this time next year.

The national guys still haven't taken full notice of him. Yes he fouls, and turns the ball over more than the other guys, but he is going to figure that out, and then it will be no contest.

im kind of worried right now with embiid to be honest...i know his stats are nice but from an eye test perspective he just doesn't look the same physically compared to his freshman year at KU...he was so graceful so fluid but now he's lumbering with a stooped awkward posture...i know that he hasn't played for 2 years and growed some but im wondering if he will ever regain his nimbleness..he's also top heavy with not much lower body strength as he's always falling down when there's contact....please reassure me he'll be fine down the line

He looks less explosive but I'm hoping that its rustiness and he immproves by the end of the season. Right now he's no alley oop target, he should have more flushes and easy baskets

Severe reach. Embiid is actually better than at KU. He put on more weight so he's not going to be as fast and quick and nimble but he's plenty fluid. Just look at his moves from the 3 point line and finishes with his left hand. He does need more lower base strength but that's to be expected.

During his interview with Woj, he admitted that he is not in his best shape yet. So there is that.

He is incredibly nimble for a guy his size. He is 45 pounds heavier than he was at Kansas, and that is a big number.

He runs in that stooped manner sometimes, but when he turns on the jets he is fast as hell.

Not sure about the balance stuff, but he is also fighting through a lot of defensive attention, and hasn't been recognizing the double teams very well so he is constantly in traffic.

45 pounds is too much he needs to lose at least 20 to regain some of that quickness he lost and the extra weight doesn't seem to have made him functionally stronger it's all up top cosmetic strength

I don't think he needs to lose weight. I think he needs more lower body strength and training which will help his balance and explosiveness

He is quick enough to be quicker than any man guarding him that is of similar size.

He is going to be the most physically dominant player in the league. He just needs to keep playing and gaining experience, and shaking off the rust.

If you watched full games from him at Kansas, you would have noticed that he actually falls over a lot then too. He's always had some balance concerns, especially when other bigs put a body on him. I think he's more top heavy than most bigs simply by makeup, or rather his lower body strength is not as good as it could be. Hopefully the strength and conditioning gets it figured out.

I don't think he's much less fluid either. If you're comparing him to his peak moments, he'll occasionally look less fluid. But I think he's demonstrated great fluidity at times. But he's also shown to lumber a bit, which often happens to bigs when they get tired or pick up a nick or two. His conditioning needs a lot of work, and when he gets tired he starts to labor more than he did at Kansas, probably because he's hauling a lot more weight.

There does at first seem to be something off about how he moves. Like he looks slow, but is deceptively fast maybe? He doesn't have that robotic sprint that Duncan had and he's not as graceful as Cousins or Davis, but he's also three inches taller than those guys. Embiid has a soccer background right? Or was it Volleyball? Either way, some agility excercises, maybe ballet, a ninja course, he should be fine. It does leave an unsettling feeling watching him move sometimes. Gives you the worry that he'll age too fast in the NBA and end up with that Bill Cartwright/Robert Parish type of look.
The bottom line is he HAS to get through this first season without incident. We have Okafor, Noel looks to be coming back, there is no reason to play JoJo 35 minutes a game until he proves to be fully mended and in shape, and we actually have a competitive team.
I hate the dreaded "minutes restriction". , , .

I don't see any concerns with fluidity at all. He does what he wants to do on the court. I think he is still working himself into shape and gets tired by the end of his 4 minute shifts, and I see him falling periodically, which maybe can be improved with strengthening his base.

Generally speaking though, he is the athlete that we thought he was.

I think it's quite ok. Nobody is the future of the league after 8 games
