I love how everyone on the team is totally hyped about the process and that they want to lighten up the league and just dominate.

And they'll have extra incentive to sick Marcus Smart on him for 40 minutes to prove a point to their fanbase that they didn't make a mistake in passing on him.

Reminds me of TJ to counter DLo. Was a fun match-up

Embiid just gets it. He is smart. He is charismatic. He is a leader. He just exudes franchise player.
He is just a natural.

I hope Boston selects Fultz because I like Ball and Jackson better. If Boston wants to have a better chance of winning they should draft Ball or Jackson but Ainge isn't a good drafter so I can see him drafting Fultz first. I just don't want Boston trading down getting more assets and picks. Stay at 1 and take Fultz

Bodner sounds almost giddy that we're getting Fultz.

Slow vertically?
You realize this is physically impossible, right? The acceleration of gravity on objects in motion is constant. If you get high off the ground, it necessarily means you 'explode' vertically fast enough to counteract the acceleration of gravity until you reach the peak of your jump. At this point you're talking about the aesthetics of someone jumping, not how effective they are at getting off the ground.
You could make the argument that Fultz looks more labored going into his jump than players who effortlessly get off the ground like Westbrook or Wiggins. Which is fine. Those guys are crazy bouncy and can practically get off the ground without much gather.
So a space shuttle leaves the ground at the same speed that Markelle Fultz leaps for a dunk?
I think you are getting confused between Velocity and Force constant. As soon as a player leaves the ground they are generating no more force... once a space shuttle leaves the Launchpad it continues to create more force until it leaves the atmosphere.
I just had to write some software to handle the physics of a football being kicked so learnt all about this the hard way... you need to add force to an object to create velocity... and as mass (A football/ a basketball/a players body) is always constant... the only thing that changes is the amount of force you generate to get the object off the ground (and the angle... which when kicking a football is very relevant... but when jumping Angle doesn't come into it as you are jumping up at the same angle most of the time).
Someone that weighs 200 pounds.. needs more force at the initial jump to get to the same point as someone who is 180 pounds... but if they are both the same height and both touched the exact same point on a backboard then it doesn't matter. The amount of time taken to get there from the ground to the rim would be exactly the same.
So TeamHigh is correct... There is no such thing as getting there faster or being "more explosive" when going from point A to Point B... because if you were "more explosive" and travelling faster... then you would be jumping higher.

Exactly this. The force would differ between players who achieve the same maximum vertical, because players have different mass, and force is mass times acceleration.
But if you told me a player's vertical velocity the instant their feet leave the ground, it's a relatively easy calculation to determine how high that person is going to get at the apex of their jump, and roughly how long that person will be in the air. Likewise, if you tell me their peak height off the ground, you can make a relatively simple calculation to derive their vertical velocity the instant they leave the ground.
And you can do all of this because we know the acceleration of the earth's gravity is equal and constant for all bodies. So yes, if two people both jump and get to the same height, there's no such thing as one of them "exploding faster" off the ground faster than the other. They would both have exploded off the ground at the same speed.
I suspect when people say that Markelle has good vertical but doesn't look to "explode fast" off the ground, they are either talking about aesthetics (notice how many people feel that guards/smaller players look better in dunk contests than big men, even if the big men have similar verticals?), or how effortless/smooth their gather looks. Players like Westbrook or Wiggins have crazy bounce, and as quick a 2nd/3rd/4th jump as anyone, and it seems like they have pogo sticks for legs and can get up off the ground without spending much time gathering before their jump. Or it might be a matter of them rarely approaching their max vertical during in-game situations. E.g. some players can test 40" verticals in workouts, but in game they rarely bother, or are unable to due to fatigue/etc, to jump that high.

It is Fultz, 4 years ago.

Recommend reading that article also. Fultz may not be a vocal leader, but he's going to lead by example with his work ethic. The more I read about him the more it seems like it.

Embiid is like the new Shaq but not a douche. Dude's one of the most likable players in the league already.
