I think the team has quit on Nurse.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

You can just drop "shooter" until he proves otherwise.

George has been great on defense, I've thought.

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
One month you are an integral part to the USA winning a gold medal in the Olympics. You go out and side-eye the top free agent available on national TV, to get him to come to your team. You sign a large contract extension. Only to wake up a few months later to find your team is 2-11, with 2 of those wins coming without you. And you are now the 3rd best player on "your" team. Is that how quickly the torch has been passed in Philly?
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

Could've had DeRozan for half the amount PG is making. Not like he'd fix our issues, but at least there'd be flexibility moving forward.

He is 5 years older than Joel and can go downhill at any time as quick as PG and Embiid. It would be a hard pass here for someone who cannot knock down 3s which is why he avoid them. I would take Klay all day cause he is one of the best sharpshooters in the game!Negrodamus wrote:Could've had DeRozan for half the amount PG is making. Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
I've watched like 4 full games so far this season and already need a break. Even with Maxey coming back soon, they're **** if Embiid can't get right. I don't know if it's confidence in the knee, he's still injured, or he's just out of shape still. I can't accept that this is just him now.

Likely don't have enough to get him, but this is the only guy I'd part with multiple pics for. Even in a "bad" game, he's one of the most effective guys on the court. Leading the NBA in DBPM. Mostly likely untouchable at the moment, shame we didn't trade up to get him instead of trading for barely a 2 year rental of Melton.

Derozan has looked more spry than PG so far
of course he would have came here and forgot how to shoot even his mid rangers but still.
(I do think he just wanted to go out west to be closer to home tho so it moot)

Might be a decent time to trade one of our picks since we're looking like such a disaster. It might have significant value to another team.

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
PG just can’t generate separation anymore & isn’t a good enough passer to be running PnRs anymore. I’ll give him some grace coming off the knee injury but it’s looking sad for him.
Ultimately, we just can’t make any shots. We should’ve easily won that game last night if we hit our open looks. I’m not sure what the path forward is if we continue to see these percentages from 3.

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
No trading picks, this season could be a total train wreck, they need to keep their picks. Unless they can get Doncic or something, which isn't happening. Aside from that, keep the pick. It could be a top 6 pick for them and I know people keep saying "They won't be bad enough to pick top 6." Really? Ok, maybe they turn it around, but as each game goes by I see a team that could finish with the worst record in the NBA. They're a freaking disaster. And at some point they may just shut Embiid down for the season and tank. And even if Maxey comes back and plays well, they still were terrible with him. Keep the picks.
In fact, this front office should have a specific number in their head already to where if they have a bad enough record by a certain date, it would be too mathematically improbable to even make the playoffs that they should start tanking then. Like, if they're 17 or 18 games under .500 in December if I were the Sixers I would come out and say we're shutting down Embiid indefinitely and will update his progress in 4 weeks, and then every 4 weeks repeat the same thing until the season is over and ride this thing to Cooper Flagg.
Speaking of which, I think this thread would be more active if it weren't pinned. Some people just don't post in pinned threads.

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
This team has relied on Embiid playing at MVP caliber for years. It's covered up all kinds of warts. Now that he's a bad player, not good, and not even close to all-star or MVP level, the team is total garbage. We have to hope his current abysmal play is only due to conditioning, and not due to age or injuries.
If we had the Embiid from the last few years, we'd be looking good.

If we continue as one of the worst teams in the league, we should be able to leverage getting this year's pick back in trade via the threat of tanking. In fact Morey should be doing that right now with Presti. Give back the pick or we tank and you lose it!

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
Embiid said last night that he was a "changed man" with how he was going to approach the season, meaning he was going to yield to others, less shots, more off ball role. Said next game that maybe he should go back to his old self. Sounded like a threat, lol. Honestly, who cares? As long as it doesn't take away shots from McCain, I'm happy.
Now if Maxey is back, then Embiid should continue to take less shots.

Morey cannot try to add to this.
To-do list:
1)Get the pick back from OKC.
2)If you aren't back to .500 or better by the New Year... Maxey, George, and Embiid are all out for the season.
3)Listen on every player on the roster, even though you probably aren't trading away anyone this season. But if someone wants to bowl you over, let them.

Guys, OKC isn't just going to give that pick back. What the hell are we giving up for what is likely the 14th pick in the draft?

Clippers 28 pick. Plus OKCs pick returned next year if they insist.
I'm not convinced that the pick is only going to be 14th. George and Embiid look completely washed so far. But maybe they're still hurt.
